Oops. The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team did it again.
OU captured its seventh national championship in school history Saturday, winning the 2025 title over second-place UCLA and third-place Missouri. Oklahoma's seven championships are tied with the Bruins for third most in the history of the sport.
The Sooners led after the second rotation and took a commanding lead during the third rotation on the vault. In on of the brightest individual moments of the day, Faith Torrez, who fell in OU's semifinal loss last year, landed her Yurchenko 1.5 and captured a 9.9375 score.
Audrey Davis earned a 9.9250 on her Jaegar on bars and Jordan Bowers picked up a 9.8875 to follow on the final rotation, sealing OU's title. Torrez and Bowers helped break the tie with UCLA after the first rotation when Torrez scored a 9.9625 and Bowers a 9.9250 on floor
Utah, which has won nine national titles, but none since 1995, finished fourth. Missouri's third-place finish is its best in school history.
OU lost just two meets all year, both to defending national champion LSU. But the Tigers were eliminated in Session II on Thursday with UCLA and Utah taking the two spots from the regional.
All seven of the Sooners' national titles have come under coach K.J. Kindler. She was named OU women's gymnastics coach in 2006 and captured the school's first championship with Florida in a tie in 2014. Oklahoma also won in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. The Sooners finished as runner's-up in 2021, 2018 and 2013.
