Apparently they want a 2 for 1. We go to Norman twice and they come to Boise once. I think our AD is trying to get it to 1-1 instead, so they can't back out of comming to the blue.

Well they backed out of a trip to Tempe because they had to travel to UCLA and ASU in the same year. We then in turn canceled our trip to Norman.

Yeah our AD wants to make sure they come to Boise, so that's why he doesn't want a 2 for one.

If you're not willing to do a 2 for 1 if you are Boise State, you have no right to bitch. You are the ladder climber asking for respect, so be willing to pay the price.

Bobby Bowden at Florida State had to do it. So too have many other building programs.

A handful of good years in a terrible conference with one BCS win and Boise thinks they can name the terms to one of the elite programs in modern and past college football history? Give me a break.

Mao, did you not get any good presents for Christmas, or are you just really mad about Sherman? You don't seem your normal cheery self.

We want one and one not two and one? What's wrong with that? People **** out schedule, but we can't play every Out of conference game on the road.

Fresno State does it. So does BYU.

Until you're a proven commodity you're not going to get a 1-and-1 with a proven commodity unless your school is in a power conference or in fertile recruiting grounds. Neither of which applies to Boise State.

We have had 1-1 with Oregon state, Oregon coming as well. Our problem is that teams just don't want to come play us at home. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we are decent team, but we aren't perceived that way since we aren't in a "Power Conference"

I think tough out of conference teams are the key to getting respect. That said, if we can get to the BCS and win, we will also get respect. We've got a lot of growing to do, but our program is in better shape that some bigger conference teams.

boise just isn't in a position to demand 1 and 1s - also, playing a school coming from a long distance isn't the same as playing a neighboring school which could have some alterior incentive to travel into idaho

boise getting a traditional power school to play in boise is a huge step - well worth 2 on the road (as long as they in fact get the 1 and get it soon)

2 for 1 shouldn't be an issue - timing and guarantee of the game should be

Stadium capacity might have everything to do with it. Most likely there could be revenue sharing. Out of conference issue. Oklahoma can get just about any out of conference game they want. Maybe the only reason they would even agree to a 2 for 1 is so that they don't get accused of ducking a team that beat them. U of Miami went through this for years while building their mprogram. Established top tier teams get to pick and choose schedules. Hell, Miami even agreed to play their " home" against Florida back in the 80's at Tampa, a neutral site, which wasn't neutral at all. Itwas Gatorland West Coast Florida. If Boise can get a 2 for 1 with Oklahoma, they should snatch it up and run away smiling. Imagine the premium ticket prices for that home game at Boise. 32,000 seats is not big time football. Without the seat revenue, the program will not be top tier. Check out the capacity of the other Top 25 teams this year.

Boise State stadium expansion OK'd

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Fresh off a perfect 13-0 season and victory over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl, Boise State University has been given approval by the state Board of Education to fix up Bronco Stadium.

Construction on a $35.9 million project to replace the cramped press box and add luxury suites at stadium could be the first piece of a major expansion to the 30,000-seat stadium, where Boise State has lost just twice since 2001. The addition of suites, club sections and loge boxes will add about 2,000 seats, increasing the stadium's capacity to 32,000.

The athletic department presented its plans Monday to the board at its monthly meeting in Boise -- the same day the Broncos achieved their highest ranking ever in The Associated Press Top 25 poll, finishing the season at No. 5 and as the only undefeated Division I-A team in the country. The school expects to complete the renovations before the start of the 2008 football season.

The press box and luxury seat renovations should be the first phase of a larger stadium expansion that increases the stadium's capacity to more than 40,000 seats, head coach Chris Peterson told a booster's meeting Monday.

"That press box is awesome, but I've got to tell you, I've already moved past that," The Idaho Statesman quoted Petersen as saying. "I'm on to how we're going to expand the stadium."

A continued plan to add thousands more seats, perhaps in the north corners of the stadium facing downtown, or the horseshoe opening at the south end zone, could go before the board in the next two years. But Peterson said that depends on selling out every home game next season.

"It's got to be the hardest ticket in all of Idaho to get," Petersen said.

The university has contracted with Layton Construction of Salt Lake City to build the current addition of luxury seats and a new press box, athletic director Gene Bleymaier said.

"This has been a multiyear effort to get to this point," he said. "It's very exciting to now see this come to fruition and to be able to start the project."

Boise State athletic officials must return to the board at the Feb. 22-23 meeting for permission to issue $28 million in bonds to finance the construction.

The other $7.9 million will be covered through the athletic department budget.

The department has raised more than $5 million for the project and the remaining money could come from the Broncos Bowl Championship Series payout if necessary.

Boise State expects to net $3 million to $3.5 million from its Fiesta Bowl appearance.

The Broncos also must raise $1.27 million to pay for plush furniture, big-screen televisions and other amenities in the luxury boxes.

The school will pay off $28 million in debt over 30 years through revenue expected from leases. The plan calls for yearly payments from the athletic department for academic capital improvements.

"I haven't done a survey, but I think this may be unprecedented," university president Bob Kustra told the board. "This may be a new way of marrying the priorities and goals of the academic programs on campus with the priorities and goals of the athletic programs on campus."

The board voted 6-0 in favor of the project, with one abstention.

In all the current project would add 38 luxury suites with 16 seats each, 43 loge boxes with four seats each, 787 individually sold club seats.

We should definalty consider the 2 for 1 if we can get 1-1 it would be better. The press boxes are a great step, but we need to jump on expansion now too.
