Can someone tell me why Smith's hit was a penalty after Rolle's 3rd INT.? After an interception isn't the QB is just another blocker?

The announcer explained. They said you cant go after a QB who isnt involved in the play. You cant actively seek him out. I have to admit Carson was not involved in the play. By the time he got up the play was by him.

Because Palmer wasn't part of the play. Wasn't there another penalty anyway?

Thatw as just celebration after apparent TD

I'm not buying it. Palmer was IN FRONT of the play, I taped and have already watched it again.

I'm as thrilled as I can be with the win and I'm going to let this go but how then do you ever block downfield on an INT? If you hit a guy at the ten while the ball carrier is at the 40 how can you say the guy is or isn't in the play, if the play is in front of him?

I could very well be wrong on this, but the rule is in place to protect the QB, on a play like that, and only the QB

With the INT doesn't the QB become an active defender? We have a right to keep him from making a play on Rolle, right? It looked like he was getting up and just starting to turn toward the play when he got hit. I think it was a B.S. penalty and it does matter because a 3rd INT returned for a TD would have been an NFL record.

I see kickers and punters getting rocked during returns when theyre not involved in the play all the time

If the play is headed toward the QB, they are involved, and need to take the same precautions every other football player does to A) make a play on the ballcarrier and B) protect themselves.

Like I posted in another thread, that unsportsmanlike foul call was crap. Palmer was trying to make a play, and Smith leveled him. I rewatched it four or five times. That should have been another return TD for Rolle.

These refs are nuts sometimes. Rolle does a bcakflip , all by himself, after the pick 6 and we get flagged. Thats BS.

I've seen a whole helluva lot more dancing, jumping in the stands etc.and thats never called.
Wasn't it Larry Johnson who grabbed the flag boys flag , waved it and stuck it in the ground without being penalized?

I think it's more rediculous when a player like Chris Henry catches a 12 yard pass for a first down and dances, signals first down and celebrates like he just iced the game.

It was the proper call on the Palmer penalty, ahem, but I kinda liked it. Smith was talking sh** to him as he was on the ground too.

I just watched it in slow-motion and my opinion has changed. Rolle was running right by Palmer, so he was part of the play.

Who threw that huge block early in the return? Dansby? He crushed the guy.

If anyone watched "Cardinals Live" last nite, they also agreed he was in front of and "in" the play so it was bullsh*t.

What rule? There's a rule that says you can't hit the QB after an interception????? That's news to me. How then can the QB tackle the interceptor????

you can't hit the QB, if he is 15-20 yards away from the play, and not trying to make a tackle.

Not saying that he was/wasn't. Just pointing out the rule.

That call was BS. Palmer was about 5 yards away from Rolle when Smith crushed him. I love play like that. The Cards defense plays with a mean streak and I love it. Continue to smash people. No mercy (In a Cobra Kai voice)

There is an NFL rule that a player cannot celebrate by falling to the ground. Since Rolle didn't stick the landing on this flip and then flopped to the ground on the next would-be TD, they were both penalties. They weren't excessive until he hit the ground.

Stupid rule...

Call was bush. It cost "Trelle a bit of fame and fortune (it would have been an NFL record).

But I'll take the "W."

Is everything
How long before the NFL requires that the QB wear a contrasting color jersey and are completely untouchable? BS!!!

Yeah no kidding, a pink skirt would be appropriate. If a QB doesn't want to get hit then how about they just stay on the ground instead of making a move at the play????
