I just watched it. Great movie, but I must say it was one of the slowest movies I’ve ever seen. I really liked the flashback scenes with Jennifer Connelly (this was her first movie). At almost 4 hours long there is a lot to take in, so I’ll probably watch this one again in a few years.

I watched this one about 4-5 months ago. Woods and DeNiro are great. I still love Jennifer Connelly.

Freaking great movie. Classic. There are actually 2 different endings to the movie. The original theatrical ending isn't as good as the extended ending. The extended special ending was much better IMO. When I purchased the movie back on VHS it was with the extended ending. I wonder which one they will have on the DVD.

The version that was originally released to US theaters and critics was only 144 minutes, which is likely why it flopped. They even rearranged the chronological order of the film.

IMDB said:
Sergio Leone printed 10 hours of film to assemble as the initial cut of the movie, which he pared down to a six-hour cut that he was satisfied with. For a time, he strongly considered releasing the movie in two three-hour parts before cutting it down to its four-hour version. However, the studio still wasn't happy with this, and hired editor Zach Staenberg to further shorten the movie.

Even at four hours long, the full cut of this film leaves about 45 minutes that Sergio Leone considered "essential" on the cutting room floor, including: further explanation of the mob/labor relationship, Robert De Niro meeting Tuesday Weld's character in the 1968 sequences, and a good deal of footage featuring Darlanne Fluegel, who played DeNiro's girlfriend, "Eve".

Took me 13 years, but i finally re-watched this one. My tastes have changed quite a bit; this wasn't slow at all. Loved the long scenes with little dialog. It gives you time to think and pay attention to all the details in the scene.

The kid that played young Max reminded me of Jake Gyllenhaal.
