I think the Cards are one CB away from being a dynasty on defense.

If the cards can pick up a fast corner who is willing to tackle they will be one of the top defenses for the next few years.

They also need to find A.Wilson replacement which i think can be Toler. Rhodes can play at this level for another 3-5 years and maybe dockett as well

I think Toler will be good once his knee is 100%. He has speed and is physical.

Toler, Flemming, and Gay are all fast and can all tackle. Coverage is the problem, and it was Tolers first game back at the #2 CB position and I thought he played well.

Toler is too small for safety in my opinion, and when Adrian Wilson decides to stop playing I think Patrick Peterson is the guy to go to his spot since PP7 is about 220 lbs.

I think Wilson has more left in the tank than you give him credit for, but he is old and age catches up quickly.

All that being said, Rhodes looked OK at SS as well.

I think our CB spot will solve itself by year's end. Flemming is only a rookie and he has shown some flashes of serious skill.

:biglaugh:

How about we wait & see how good they are next year after Horton leaves for a HC gig? Btw I still say we need a dominant OLB to take this D to the next level.

they're not a CB away... they're one DOMINANT one on one OLB away, IMO.

I think we're one dominate pass rushing OLB away from a dynasty. We also need to draft our future SS to replace adub, and a new DT to replace Dockett in order to cement the future of this defense. Flemming will develop to a good CB. In the mean time, use Toler

Very dicey discussion. There is a nice mix of youth and experience on this defense. Of course talent is the main ingredient. I am not ready to proclaim them one away from anything. So much can happen.

Isn't this the "glass half empty" way of saying that this is the best Cardinal Defense we have ever seen?

I think Bethel is going to be our Rhodes replacement as he ages. The most pressing need we have is a 2nd ILB IMO. Lenon has done very well, especially for his age, but it would shock the crap outta me if he can stay at the level his is today for a couple more years. AW is still a monster. Probowl last year and likely again this year. Led the team in tackles yesterday, had a sack, and should have had a pick. All while playing on his STILL torn bicep. He's an alien, plain and simple. Fleming has the skills/talent to be a scary #2 CB, but he needs time to develop. Acho has done great at OLB, Scho looks like he finally clicked last week and it carried over into yesterday as well. There is SO MUCH talent on this D

While some of the points in this thread may be valid, I think dynasty is a bit premature considering the secondary got torched for 400+ yards by a rookie with a 60 QB rating going in.

Sure we could use a dominate OLB, but Scho/Groves/Acho are proving to be pretty dynamic so far this year.

I want Jadaveon Clowney a few years from now if he does baloon to the Pepper sized defensive end many think he'll become. I watched as a freshman last year and he was good, but right now I think Clowney would own NFL OTs. He's amazing.

We need to stay the course, continue draft BPA and this team will continue getting better. Don't forget that the core of the defense/team is young and will be together for years to come.

Clowney would be unbelievable on this defense. That being said I hope the Cards are in no position to make a top-5 draft pick. Also props to Acho, Scho and Groves for playing well this year.

Docket being out was huge. The push he gets up the middle hurries the qb, shortens plays, and makes everyone else's job easier.
