A friend of mine took his two sons (ages 10 and 6) to the game and did his due diligence by prepping the youngsters on who was playing that day.

Before arriving at the stadium from his hotel he stopped off at some shop and asked his boys what they wanted to wear to the game. The 6 year-old chose a Cardinal jersey. Not to be outdone by his younger brother, the 10 year-old chose a Cowboy jersey - and cap.

They went to the game and a great time was had by all.

However, after the game, as they made their way along the concourse on their way out of the stadium, the 10 year-old pulled on his dad's arm and whispered in his ear, "Dad, I don't want this Cowboy jersey anymore. Can I have a Cardinal one?"

Dad, who is a Bronco fan, Cardinal sympathizer, and Cowboy hater, whispered back, "No. I already bought you jersey. That's enough."

His son, not to be denied, pulled on his Dad's arm again and whispered, "but I don't like the Cowboys anymore. Honest. I want to be a Cardinal fan. I won't ask you for a jersey ever again from any other team. I promise."

Dad, seeing the honesty in his son's eyes, patted him on the back and whispered back to him, "Okay, son. A Cardinal fan you shall be."

He bought him a red Fitzgerald jersey before they left the stadium.

True story.

Nice story!

At school today, we had "Team up against drugs" day where everyone wore the jersey of their favorite sports team. I saw lots of Cards jerseys, one Packers jersey and one Giants jersey (on a teacher). No Cowboys!!! :)

Kids are so fickle

If this kid dropped the Cowboys after one loss, I seriously doubt he has the fortitude to be a Cards fan.

GREAT story!!!

THANKS for sharing. I remember being (10) and getting my 1st taste of professional football-a Cards/Giants game in New York in 67'. Years later in my mid-teens, I had the opportunity to meet Jackie Smith, Jim Hart, and Conrad Dobler after we beat the Giants in the Yale Bowl in New Haven, CT.(Yankee Stadium was being refurbished at the time) My dad was helping out as an usher and got us tickets. It's an incredible thrill to actually meet the players that you watch on TV. Anyways, the thing I've learned over the years is that being a fan is about the moments. To me, beating the Cowboys, and in the way that we did, is one of those priceless moments. In fact, while winning the Super Bowl would be AMAZING I'm not sure how much MORE exciting it would actually be. Let's hope that the Cards continue to make your sons proud. GO CARDS!!
