For those who caught the UCLA win last night over USC in mens hoops.

Late in the game USC was fouling on purpose and Howland took out Mata and his 27% FT number and put in Aboya. Aboya is not exactly Calvin Murphy at the line himself so USC tried to grab him. Aboya started running around, like a kid in a game of tag and eventually Rousean Cromwell grabbed him by the jersey and was called for an intentional foul 2 shots and the ball.

Tim Floyd is apparently complaining to the Pac 10 that because of Aboya's actions, it was impossible for USC to foul him unintentionally! Hello, does he really think it's against the rules for a player to avoid a foul?

One of the Bruin fans on Bruinzone who was at the game says 2 USC players were chasing Aboya for 10-15 seconds before cromwell grabbed him. At one point he did a dead stop and both players flew by him. Said it was like they were watching a Globetrotter skit.

The tv feed only showed the tail end of I'm dying to see the whole thing but it doesn't appear to be on Youtube.

According to Scott Wolf USC insider, Floyd has already been informed by the Pac 10 that there's nothing in the rules against what Aboya did and that the intentional foul was the correct call. Howland is also complaining because twice late in the first half they grabbed Mata intentionally and were just called regular fouls, not intentionals.

Note, I think this is smart coaching by Floyd, as long as they aren't going to call it, you should keep fouling Mata. But chasing a kid around the court and hanging onto his jersey is a bit too obvious.

Does Tim Floyd have a black cloud suspended over his head wherever he goes?

He's actually a very good coach he just seems to love the Tark approach of taking shortcuts by recruiting guys nobody else will touch.

At USC he's hit upon internet classes, and night school and offcampus junior college courses to get guys eligible.

Although to be fair I hear Taj Gibson is actually doing quite well academically at USC and intends to stay next year.
