One of those rare games I thought the refs helped us

Spot I thought they for sure got the first down to Ebron, they ruled it short even on replay. I am still not sure on the punt return play I don't know the exact rule but sure seems to me they don't normally call that ball down, although Bethel was on the ground not jumping to throw it back. And at the end I'm not sure Fitz got the first down, live it seemed short to me.

I'm so used to thinking the refs are out to get us this was surprising to me.

Fitz got the first down. But those other two calls were gifts! ;)

I guess the Cardinals are now getting calls only the elite teams get. It's nice to be on top.

Yup, Detroit had lots of flags against them too. I kept waiting for tons of flags against us in the 2nd half, but they just called the penalties that they saw. Detroit couldn't challenge the Fitz first down spot since they used all their timeouts and there was more than 2 minutes on the clock so they couldn't do a booth review.

I think good things come in 3s. Actually I don't think Fitz got the first down but I was happy to get the call.

The call on the pump was absolutely the right call. Bethel had to session for the second and threw it back in the field therefore by rule the ball was down

That's only because we were playing the lions another historically bad franchise if we are playing the Packers Cowboys and the Steelers etc. would've been a different story

Totally agree Russ. Winners almost always get the calls right?:D

Defender possession of a kick is instant termination of the play. It doesn't matter what he does with the ball after possession.

Apparently they got the call right on review because Bethel caught the ball and paused long enough before ditching it for it to be downed. But the one beef I has was on the non-roughing the passer call on Stanton then calling one on Martin that nearly gave them new life. That could have been huge.

I think it can get confusing because a lot of plays similar to this are batting the ball to keep it from going into the endzone which are not possession plays. Clearly the Cardinals player had possession on this play.

on a punt, if the kicking team touches the ball the play is over if they are touching the field of play.
that is why players jump in the air to toss it back.

on the other hand,...win some games,....gain a little respect and a reputation as a class organization from top to bottom....and people jump on the bandwagon.............even officials.

So if Bethel fell into the endzone with the ball it wouldn't have been a touchback?

I guess the reason it surprised me is that Bethel wasn't on balance so while he wasn't jumping to save it, he was throwing it in to avoid falling into the endzone. But I don't know the rule, Pereira seems to think wrong call

That's the problem, if that happened in 10 games today you would've had 5 differant results. I don't agree with the call, but hell BA might've won the game challenging it & I'm taking it :)

I think that was BASK at work. Cardinals now have the personnel to look at that stuff on replays, know the rule book inside and out..... and know when to challenge the call.

What I especially liked about the reversal is Jerome B. was the ref who totally jobbed us out of a win a couple of years ago. Times have changed. Win games and the calls go your way.

There were some missed personal foul calls that weren't called for us, like when Sims shoved Foote way after the whistle.

Don't want to hear it for Lion fans. They should worry about how they couldn't get the ball in the endzone.

Agree. Btw Booger is a terrible ref IMO, always has been
