The Cincinnati Bengals and defensive end Trey Hendrickson remain in a contract and trade standoff with the NFL draft on approach.

But the same talking points keep making the rounds now and ultimately lead to the same conclusion—the Bengals aren't trading Hendrickson.

Just don't tell the Indianapolis Colts.

During an appearance on Pat McAfee's show on Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport revealed that the Colts still have an interest in acquiring Hendrickson via trade.

"The Colts do have interest in Trey Hendrickson," Rapoport said. "The Bengals don't wanna let him leave the building and the Bengals are working to keep him"

Those Colts, of course, now employ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who knows firsthand what Hendrickson can do for an entire defense after his time with the Bengals.

The Colts have always seemed like a logical landing spot for Bengals free agents like Mike Hilton, never mind Bengals trade candidates like Germaine Pratt.

Hendrickson, though, is a different beast. The Bengals have a high trade asking price on his services and technically have him under contract for one more season. A team acquiring Hendrickson would then need to meet that trade price, then give him the big-money extensions he wants.

No number of connections like Anarumo will save a team like the Colts from paying up big on what the Bengals want in return for Hendrickson. So unless the Cincinnati front office shockingly changes its stance on the asking price, the Colts can want away while Hendrickson remains with the Bengals.
