Look, this thread is not meant to diminish the opinions of those who haven't watched Shaq closely for the last 2 years. I want you all to know that, while your opinion is clearly misguided and misinformed, you should still be allowed to watch basketball and post your opinions on the Internet.

With that said, I'm sure there are a lot of people on this board who do not know exactly what to think about this (potential) trade. Let me be the one to educate you, as I did with the Grant Hill signing.

Shaq is still a great player. I mean, he's a really, really good basketball player. Dwayne Wade isn't, unfortunately... but Shaq wouldn't let himself tell anybody about that.

The truth is, Shaq knows that he can't carry a team for a full 100 games anymore. Or, at least he doubts his ability to do so. Because he has such a huge ego, he was never willing to put his reputation on the line to say anything of substance to the media. This entire season, he should have told the media: "I should be the focal point of this Miami Heat offense," but I think he was afraid to take the risk of failing. So he handed the team to D. Wade, and Wade delivered everything that he could - i.e. the worst record in the NBA. With that said, if you're curious about what Shaq could give the Suns, watch this season's game when the Heat first played the Rockets. Watch the first quarter that Shaq played against the Orlando Magic. He dominated Yao Ming, and he dominated Dwight Howard. And Amare was good enough, he would have dominated Amare Stoudemire, too.

If you don't think Shaq will help the Suns far more than Marion has, please let me know. I would love to make some DVD's about the game of basketball, so that I could sell them to you for $30 a disk. I promise, we would both benefit immensely.

While I respect your opinion, I don't respect your method of presentation. Your assertion that anyone that disagrees with you knows nothing about basketball is at best, ridiculous.

I won't say you might not be right, the bottom line is that you have your opinion like everyone else. I disagree with your assessment of Shaq even though I am a huge Shaq fan. Does Shaq still have something left in the tank? Indeed he does, but the fact is, he's not the same player he once was. If the Suns use Shaq sparingly in the regular season and then turn him loose in the playoffs, they might have some success. The problem is, what seed do the Suns get if they have to hold Shaq out of big minutes during the regular season? The problem is that Shaq has chronic injury problems the last couple seasons, and while the big guy can play through pain, his injuries are limiting. Yes, Shaq can dominate for a quarter here, and a quarter there, but is that enough to get the Suns through the regular season and through the playoffs?

In the end, only time will tell. While you may be right, you need to come down a bit off the high horse and respect the fact that other people have their opinions as well. I'm torn on this one because I really like Shaq and want to see him succeed, but being a Laker fan it's going to be tough to pull for him on the Suns. If Shaq is able to put in the minutes the Suns need and do it relatively free of injury, the Suns have a good chance. If Shaq keeps going at the inconsistent pace he's been playing at recently, it could be a problem. Time will tell, but I'm sure Suns fans everywhere hope you're right on this one.

i really think with a healthy Shaq,
the Suns' chances to win it all is higher than with Banks and Marion.
