I don't see how an outgoing staff determines much of what the new staff decides.
Sure there might be staff holdovers, sure they might take into advisement various punishments dealt out, but more likely a new coach will start everyone off on a clean slate, and go from there. Even Vontaze. But that first mistake after.....
I can see this as a problem if Erickson was staying, but since he's Casper after Thursday, I have to be less concerned with it. I don't know why someone would go through the trouble of transferring and sitting out a year to leave a staff that won't be there anyway. The people he's concerned about are gone. (or most likely)
Of course like others said he had his own problems, and when things 'snowballed', he was one of those that pushed the envelope that Vontaze licked.
He is another one of those idiot heads I hope we pass on in future recruiting classes, and hope he shows to be a bit more responsive to the new staff next year. We don't need his thug passion. We do desire his talent.
While he shouldn't be given a pass, it's easy for such hotheads to take a shot at the staff and not listen at this point, because they too know the staff is gone. Might of even made a remark about it, and didn't think that the current staff had any power over him, except to take away the one game left they DO have power over.
Given the discipline program ASU players have been under in the Erickson era, it should not come as a surprise.
But yeah like said above by Hoover, now they start laying down the law. Should of happened MUCH sooner and perhaps things could've been different.
I hope Graham has an ability to nip this sort of crap in the bud, but given such knuckleheads are already in the pipeline, it might take a couple of years before things settle down on this front.
