Oregon State fires Jay John midseason

Kind of weird, they're not all that talented so it seemed pretty obvious they'd struggle. But I guess losing to UW proved they were the worst team in the conference so he's out at 0-6.

NOt sure who's taking over I can only assume they were concerned about more transfers or recruiting losses if they didn't change coaches?

Just seems like really odd timing 6 games into the conference season.

They also booted C CJ Giles off the team. he says he's shocked, he had turned his academics around etc. Unofficially he was late for practice over and over and there's a rumor he was charged with another assault on campus (a fight) but that's not in the press release.

Probably in the long run a good decision for Oregon State. Just like Oregon a couple of years ago booting off their starting C(blanking on the name) they wound up a much better team for it in the long run.

When Giles was booted from KU, no school wanted to go near him, but he had a pretty tight relationship with coach John. On the flip side, seems he had a horrid relationship with assistant coach Kevin Mouton who was then promoted to interim head coach. Giles used up way more chances than he deserved.

Yep Giles was actually turned down by Tim Floyd at USC. When he thinks you're too risky, you're a problem.
