Looks like Orlando just wants out of this draft. They let all of their scouting personnel go 4 days before and they are not really prepared to participate. This is a pick we have to get. #19 is in the perfect spot to catch a great player who is falling. Certainly Royce White, PJ3, or Sullinger will be available. Future top 20 protected 1st?

Mass Exodus: Whenever a new general manager is hired some change is to be expected, however new Magic GM Rob Hennigan appears to be starting over . The Magic relieved almost all of their front office and scouting staff yesterday including long-time assistant General Manager Dave Twardzik .

Josh Robbins and Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel are reporting that in addition to Twardzik, regional scout Tom Conrad, international scout Rudy D’Amico, international scouting coordinator Sam Foggin, pro scout Bob Staak, regional scout Greg Stratton and NBA advance scout Al Walker were let go this weekend.

Only scouting coordinator Brian Wright was retained from the old staff. Twardzik was given the opportunity to stay on through the NBA Draft, but apparently declined the option.

League sources commented yesterday that the early word regarding the Magic’s draft plans include trying to trade the #19 overall pick for a future draft asset. The Magic appear to be trying to get as much salary off the books as possible.

As things stand today the Magic have some options they can explore this summer with Magic guard Jameer Nelson and forward Earl Clark both poised to opt out of their contracts before July 1st. Forward Ryan Anderson can become a restricted free agent and JJ Redick has a non-guaranteed year on his deal.

If the Magic pass on all of them, they could get their cap commitments down to $50.43million giving them $7 or so million in salary cap room to pursue free agents. The #19 pick represents a salary of $1,181,800 this year and $1,235,000 next year, and it seems that cap space is more valuable than the player the team could acquire.

Nothing is done on this front; however it seems that’s the direction the franchise is headed with the 2012 NBA Draft set for Thursday June 28th.

OKC is also shopping their pick I believe.

If we can buy both picks for about $1.5 mil each (I may be dead wrong on this cause I'm not sure on how much picks are sold for) then it'd be great.

I have read rumors that a lot of teams are shopping their picks. The question is whether the Suns FO has the smarts and willingness to take advantage.

Orlando's is in the perfect position to catch a falling player though. Again, its almost absolutely certain that PJ3, White, or Sullinger will be available. Those are great high risk/high reward type players that could be taken at a low risk spot.

The Suns should draft PJ3 if he's even available at #13. There's a good chance GSW picks him up before us though.

Let me think about the answer to this important question. Mmmmmmmmmm. NO.

A pick generally costs $3M, but keep in mind there will be other teams wanting those picks too. Also I think that a top-20 pick will almost certainly cost a future first rounder in addition to the cash considerations.

This would be a really good draft for the Suns if they could get two top-20 players, but we say those things every year and it never happens.

Interesting that DX and nbadraft.net both changed their mocks yesterday and have us taking Terrence Ross at #13.

Apparently they got lots of insider information yesterday.

Ross was also invited to the green room. Kendall Marshall and Arnett Moultrie who got 2 workouts in Phoenix were not. And the NBA is usually very accurate with the green room invites.

DX has Kendall Marshall going #19 to Orlando and us taking Ross. If we could deal for the Orlando pick I would be very happy with a Ross/Marshall combo. Even better if we could pick up Moultrie on top of all that.

nbadraft.net currently has Boston drafting Marshall and Sullinger at #21 and #22.

Those sites always update more frequently as the draft approaches, to generate more page hits. The changes mean nothing.

actually no they do not, at least not DX.

I'm a bit embarassed to say how many times I've updated our mock draft today, but there's been tons of info coming in: http://t.co/ZaACmouc about 12 hours ago

Coro said yesterday in his blog that the Suns are sending out major signals that they are looking to acquire a second 1st round pick...

IMO, Marshall/Moultrie/Sullenger/PJ3/Terrance Jones would all be golden...

It has been sooo long since the Suns FO has actually done something that made diehard fans proud, so it is hard to count on them starting now, but you never know and as the eternal optimist I continue to hold out hope that they will actually do something productive this offseason...

It is true. Draft their own pick and sign mediocre free agents--that's all they have done. Keeping Nash is a mediocre move too (at best).
