Ortiz pitched 3.2 innings today, gave up 8 hits, 9 runs(5 earned) and walked four. I get sick thinking about all the money he is making. A high school pitcher can do better.

And he's the number 3 starter..

Come on Russ.. Keep getting blasted.. We'll see Dustin Nippert in the Starting Lineup by Easter at this point.

Snake, you changed your name..... Anything with Sun Devil in it is okay with me! Thinking of Russ Ortiz makes me want to puke. Now I know why everyone around the league was laughing at us when we signed him to that rediculous deal. Way to go Joe Jr.. At this point, give him his money and let him walk. He's horrible and as you said, give Nippert his shot.

Maybe they ought to just take their lumps now and go ahead and put Nippert in to begin the season. Paying for nothing sure seems better than paying for him to lose a bunch of games and possibly keep them out of contention.

If I were in the decision making loop, I would vote to consider it lost $ NOW rather than later and get this guy outta here.

Hey, I'm Tempe born and Tempe bred. In May, I'll once again be a proud resident of that fine town, so I gotta get the spirit going.

As for the post, quite honestly I was one who defended the signing of Ortiz, and the internal optimist in me was trying it's damnedest to look at last season as a negative fluke.

Sadly, it looks like everyone else was right and that Ortiz seems done. I can't really label this anything but a bust, and it's looking more and more as though this will be the worst signing in Arizona Diamondback history.

If they are going to let Ortiz totally self-destruct (even more), at least drop him to #5 in the rotation, so Nippert can take over with less pressure.

Exactly.. At least Nippert and the Diamondbacks would benefit/grow from the lumps he's bound to take..

Why have Ortiz go out there and get bombed? Just for the sake of trying to collect on the money wasted?? It's just not worth it.
