Albert Pujols just got tossed for taking a swing at the Padres' catcher in the first inning of their game today; why was Pujols so upset? That's right - the Padres had the nerve to actually hit young Albert with a 66 MPH breaking ball!! What is it about the Cardinals' mentality that makes them get so bent out of shape when they get hit by a pitch? Does LaRussa brainwash them into thinking that they are much too special to deserve anything but a hittable pitch, and that getting thrown to inside is an insult to their manhood? This can't possibly be the same organization that Bob Gibson played for, because he was the biggest damn headhunter of them all!!

"Genius" LaRussa has already screwed up the game of baseball with his micromanaging of pitchers, and now his team is starting to act like their primadonna manager - - it sure would be a shame if RJ or Curt38 lost some of their control around the end of September when the WhinyBirds come to town

The rest of the story...

Now I know why Pujols got plunked today (from ESPN.com):

"Cardinals manager Tony La Russa admitted before Sunday's game that Pujols stood at home plate too long, but added that he's no different than a lot of his contemporaries.

"It never happened 20 years ago, but they all do it now," La Russa said. "Everybody does it. He went 1,001, 1,002, and then he started running." "

I guess I'm upset Eaton threw a breaking ball at Albert - I wish he would have aimed a fastball at him!!

ESPN just showed the Cardinal/Padres fight and guess who was right in the middle of the fight? That's right, Tino Martinez. Right after Pujols threw a punch Tino went right after the Padre catcher. I hope the Diamondbacks nail Tino when he comes to Arizona in September.
