Good for Joe. He is one of the real good guys in the NFL. It was too bad that he got that ultimatum from Mr. B about having a winning season, as he rallied the guys to win 5 of their last 8 games his last year here to finish 8-8. He had given us a good enough defense to beat the Giants the last game of the season in SDS, but got fired anyway. He had the offense to where they had the 3rd best rushing stats in the league with his O-line. Buddy Ryan came in and immediately destroyed that team and ran all the offensive line off, and we had to start over. Sad time for all of us.

Joe was certainly an LTG. I really loved that team in 93 and have always thought it was a mistake not to give him one more year. I'm glad he lives in the Valley. Best wishes on your retirement Coach Bugel.

You're dead on, except that we finished 7-9 his last year. No doubt we should have kept him!!

Yeah, Bugel got jobbed and that was the Giant game where they closed a door in the staduim for that final--it think--54 yard field goal for the Giants win...

However, everything that has happened led us to Kenny W, so I guess we should all thank the stars for Buddy Ryan, Vince Tobin, and Denny Green...

The really sad thing about those days, is that we ALWAYS opened on the road, and usually had two road games before a game in SDS. Our home opener was either against Dallas, Washington, or New York, so many seasons started 0-3. We were at one heck of a disadvantage playing in SDS. Very hard to produce winning seasons starting two on the road, then playing those 3 teams twice each.
