Peterson not being in the top 5 is ludicrous.

He should be or damn close by the end of his career.

Sanders 1, Brown 2, Payton 3. The rest are all pretty close.

Jim Brown was the best.Gale Sayers and Walter Payton near the top.Earl Campbell looked like a 240 lb tank running over people.Gale Sayers was great in spite of injuring his knee several times and coming back until his knees where gone.Barry Sanders made a 5 yard run exciting. You just can`t really go wrong with any one of those guys.

Cheesy if Peterson is in the top five, then give me your top 10.

I could justify putting Peterson over E.Smith, and T.Thomas, but better than Marcus Allen, and Eric Dickerson ?

That is a tough sell, but a valid argument none the less.

Gale Sayers is ranked way too low,Thurman Thomas too high,

That is a very good name, McElhenny should be on my "just missing the cut" list.

Thurman Thomas may be too high, admittedly I am a Thurman Thomas nutcase, him and Marshall Faulk were such weapons out of the backfield in so many ways.

All these players are so good that is it tough to not let personal preference have influence. It took all I had not to be ridiculous and put Earl Campbell at the #1 spot. I thought Campbell was the best pure rusher ever since he played in a modern age, but not that modern that the players were "protected" as they are now. He could run over you, and if he got a step he was gone.

+1 - Bo was a beast.

Earl Campbell is my all time favorite player. Nice to see him get some recognition.

Bo Jackson, I have always thought he doesn't get enough credit. If Gale Sayers gets appreciation for his short career, I think Jackson should be up there.

And no, not because he was good in video games, on the field he was extremely impressive.

If he had not gotten hurt, and had focused on football, goodness knows what he could have accomplished.

O.J. Simpson would easily be number two if it wasn't for his post NFL infamy.

When was Walter Payton the man? If you asked who is the best running back in the league, he was never clearly the top guy. He was over shadowed by Simpson, Campbell, Dickerson and Sanders during his career.

Watch these highlights of Payton.

And the defenses lined up 11 at the line of scrimmage just to stop him as well.

John Riggins was big in BIG games.

Not one of the top 15 though.

Larry Brown of Redskins was a very good RB in his day.

Sayers was the Sanders of his time. Too bad they couldn't fix knees well back then.
