OT: fun at the brewfest

I volunteered at the Chico (CA) brewfest today, which was a blast. All proceeds go to charity and it's a huge party. I was pouring for Sierra Nevada, which is some of the best beer you'll find.

Anyway, I wore my vintage Cardinals Emmitt Smith jersey with a Cards hat and got tons of comments. A lot of Cowboy fans (surprisingly no Niner fans), a few Raider fans. Most were positive, but this one cracked me up:

"Cardinals fan, huh? So, did you just give up on life?".

I told him he was cut off (jokingly). We all had a good laugh.

Lots of positive comments about the Cards, though, everyone seems to think we're going to do pretty well. One guy said that ESPN was bashing Leinart the other day, which I didn't see. He said the ESPN guys said Leinart would have a QB rating of 60. Anyone see this?

Sounds like that's the guy who should have been cut off. Seriously doubt anyone on ESPN would have made that remark.

I didn't hear a direct slash at Matt, but I was watching Sportscenter and they kept going with the teaser "who has the worst qb situation in the NFC?". Of course they flashed Matt and Kurt which pissed me off.

Later the teaser became "best and worst" and when it finally aired there was no mention of the Cardinals at all. A true What the... moment.

I eat lunch at a sports bar in Las Vegas a couple of times a week, and the televisions are always tuned to ESPN I & II (with the sound off).

Whenever there is a story about a NFL player, and they are showing highlights in the background, they invariably show film of a game where they are playing the Cardinals. It has happened so many times, that it has become somewhat of a running joke.

Like, "Hey look, there's the Falcons playing the Cards. Mike Vick must be in trouble!" or "Isn't that Green Bay playing the Cards, Favre must be thinking of retirement."
