Honestly,

This removes a possible Kolb suitor (hopefully making the Eagles lower their price), Takes Hasselbeck out of the Division, and puts two scrubs under center in Seattle.

I am pleased.

Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times says it's official: Matt Hasselbeck will not return to the Seattle Seahawks.

O'Neil also added via Twitter: "It appears the Seahawks have acquired another quarterback, negating the offer for Hasselbeck to re-sign."

Speculation immediately began. ESPN NFC West blogger Mike Sando immediately guessed that Tarvaris Jackson and Kevin Kolb were candidates.

ESPN's Adam Schefter also says that Jackson will be the Seahawks' man.

Still though.... I think I would rather have Orton.

Tavaris Jackson? Wow! Happy. But he sure has killed us on a couple of occasions.

On the heels of a Seattle Times report that the Seahawks have "acquired" a quarterback, the Philadelphia Inquirer hears it is not Kevin Kolb.

Seahawks beat writer Danny O'Neil suggested the team's stance on Matt Hasselbeck changed because there's a new QB in town. Putting two and two together, we're guessing Seattle does indeed have an understanding with Tarvaris Jackson. This news would hurt the Eagles' leverage with the Cardinals considerably. Seattle was viewed as Arizona's only legit competition for Kolb.

Good, offer them a couple 2nds, and if not, get Orton. The Eagles have no leverage, Kolb is as good as gone next year.

Dave Mahler of 950 WKJR Seattle reports the Seahawks have agreed to terms with QB Tarvaris Jackson.

Mahler has been a reliable source on Seahawks news this offseason, and ESPN's John Clayton was hearing Jackson would be locked up by Tuesday night. Jackson is set to reunite with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell as the Seahawks signal their intention to use 2011 as a building year. The Jackson vs. Whitehurst competition will be as thrilling as Rexy vs. Becksy in Washington. Seattle figures to move from Kevin Kolb, all but ensuring a trade between the Cardinals and Eagles.

I agree.. offer the Eagles a 2nd and a 3rd, and if not move on to Orton..

Here is the question.. According to reports the Broncos are asking for a 1st or 2nd round pick for Orton...

What would you give up for Orton if the Eagles balk at our offer?

I say no more than two 3rd round picks...

thoughts?

Glad to hear this. I am very anti-giving-up-a-player or a first-round pick for Kolb.

Yep. Considering the Iggles just lost all their leverage, we sure as hell better not give up DRC or a 1st. If so, I predict a total board meltdown, and justifiably so.

Hasselbeck is my choice for the near term Cards QB problems. Then grab a couple Offensive Linemen to protect him and maybe a TE or WR and the offense is vastly improved.

That will give time to develop Skelton and another young QB.

I think Hasselbec goes to SF. Kolb and Hasselbeck are going to grudge thump Seattle twice a year. This is going to be awesome. Pete Carroll going to the Seahawks is the best thing to happen to the Cards the last two seasons.

I'm guessing the Cardinals already have an agreement with the Eagles... hence why Seattle moved to sign another QB.

Yeah, I actually agree with you. Sign him for two years, and bring in the greatest college QB of all time, Vince Young, to back him up. Hasselbeck, Young, Skelton, and Hall would be a nice group.

Why am I thinking the only thing stopping it from being announced that we've traded for Kolb is working out a long term deal with him?

Or Kolb told them he would not sign an extension with them.

Kolb for TWO second round picks (same price the Texans paid for Schaub) and if they insist on a player, throw in Hightower as they need a number 2 running back. In the same way that the Cards have to sell the deal to their fans, for Philly it's even more so.

I have been saying this for weeks now... You have to think given everything that has gone down, and the weapons he would have in AZ and the LACK of weapons in Seattle, its not even close..

And no one ever brought this up... Kolb is the one with the most leverage period, so when everyone was saying "its between 2 teams", I think Kolb had more of a say than the public knows..
