Next Saturday, I'll be enjoying a 5 hour layover in Seattle between my flight and train trip to Canada. I know a few of you are in Seattle - so what do I do for 4 of those hours stuck around the airport and stadiums outside of spray painting a giant Cardinal over the Seahawk emblem?

Any suggestions appreciated, this is a mid-day holdover.

Right across from Safeco Field is the Pyramid Brewery, good food and beer. Just over the train tracks and to the west (I think)of Qwest Field is Chinatown, and just north of Qwest is Pioneer Square which will offer many bars and shops to kill some time. These are all well within walking distance of the fields, but I can't recall where the train station is, it must be near Qwest with all those train tracks right there.

The tour of the underground is cool.
The Music Experience is great if you like music.
The tour of Qwest Field is also cool.
The cab ride is 15-20.

Forgot about the Underground tour, it's very cool, but I depending on the scheduling, 5 hours may not be enough time to get that it. It's in Pioneer Square also btw.

Are you stuck at the airport, or do you have a way of getting around? Honestly, there isn't much to do near the airport. There's a pretty lame mall near by, but you'd have to catch a cab there. 5 hours isn't enough time to do a whole lot in downtown Seattle. If you had more time there is plenty to do in downtown Seattle. Be sure to wear your Cardinals gear to REPRESENT the best team in the NFC...

Cheers...

Thanks! The Pyramid Brewery and the Music Experience seem just the things to fit the bill. I'll likely walk the couple of miles since my legs will be cramped from the morning flights.

And, I'll definitely represent on my brief stay. Can never be as bad as sitting with drunk iron workers at the Cards-Bears game...

First time in the north-west (in Vancouver for a week), so I'm pretty pumped to see what it's like.

it's not exactly a quick walk from the airport to downtown / pioneer square / seattle center

the quickest way would be to take a cab - the bus is cheap, but not something I would want to depend on given such a tight schedule

the light rail is starting this week and you could take the shuttle from SeaTac to the Tukwila station and take that into seattle

However, with only 5 hours to get off the plane, get into the city, do something and then get back in enough time to clear security and comfortably get to your gate - i'd probably spring for the cab or maybe spring for the Gray Line bus which runs to hotels on a fixed schedule

the Pyramid Brewhouse is near the stadiums and it would be closest to the airport - if it were me I would probably take a cab to the public market, walk around the waterfront back towards pioneer square & the stadiums, have a couple at pyramid and then make my way back

EMP is over in the seattle center area which is on the other side of downtown - wouldn't add on a ton of time getting over there if going by cab - but maybe an extra 30 minutes total and you may end up feeling rushed ........... however, it is over by the space needle, monorail and other touristy stuff

either way have fun and you should have a blast in vancouver

MMMMMmmmm!!! Pyramid!! I am drinking Pyramid Hefe right now with a fresh Lemon.

Make sure to check out the scenery when you are flying into Seattle. The area is beautiful from the air. You can see Mount St. Helens and Rainer also.
