Apparently he went to the same high school as Steve Breaston.

Interesting fact about myself, I was on a 4x100 team that set Junior High records mainly because we had a fella who ran the 100 in 10 to 10.3 seconds while the rest of us ran it around 10.7 - 11 seconds.

That quick fella went on to play at a Valley school and got recruited to Michigan. As far as I know, he got some knee injury and never did much but he was on a Michigan team that recruited Steve Breaston and Jason Avant the same year he was recruited.

We don't talk much anymore but he now lives in Texas.

Random, I know... but I feel about 0.00003% more special in my life now so that's what counts.

I don't understand how ANYONE who loves football cannot like a player like Gronk. He gives his all every play. He is one of the best at his position in the NFL. He is great with the fans. He does not do dumb-assed things on the field that give children bad influence.

I don't get that one is not allowed to like a quality player because of the school he went to.

I'm certainly no Patriots fan... However, I happened to meet Gronk last Friday night! Was at dinner at Eddie's House in Scottsdale and all of a sudden, a huge group of about 20 people walked in. The funniest thing was that the person in front was Chow from The Hangover! And then Gronk and his entire family (brothers with their wives, cousins, friends, etc.) all came in and literally sat at the table right next to the table I was sitting at!
I was able to hear just about everything Gronk was saying - which were a lot of jokes and lots of laughs.
When the group I was with were done eating, I walked over to Gronk and shook his hand (yes, I am one of "those guys" who often approach star athletes...). He couldn't have been any nicer. Asked me who I was rooting for (which gave the chance to describe my hatred for the Hags) and when I told him I was from CT but not a Pats fan, he let me describe in detail how CT is divided and that the part where I am from is only 30 mins from Manhattan and so I was a NY fan and therefore, a Boston hater! He laughed and pushed me away!
Anyway, he seems like a very good guy who is clearly enjoying where is at in life... and he's also surrounded by a very grounded family which I'm sure provides him with a solid foundation...

So the 82 Curse only works on Arizona athletes?

OMG Jon... You won't believe this story, but I'll share it anyway...

After dinner Friday night, the group I was with walked over to The Venue Scottsdale. We have a friend who works for a major sports marketing firm (Genesco) and one of their clients (JBL) was hosting a VIP Private party where Pitbull was the headline performer.
Well, we walked in and because we had these special VIP passes, we were able to access the upstairs/VIP balcony. We get up there and who do I bump into right away - Warren Sapp! I (just as I did with Gronk), shook his hand and told him how much I appreciated his HOF speech (it was a good one). He thanked me, BUT.... he seemed extremely intoxicated and could hardly string two words together! And his possy seemed more than a little sketchy...
Well, we now know what happened to him Sunday night.... So, I think the 82 curse is still in effect. ;)

I couldn't believe it when the reports came out... FWIW, that same night at the Pitbull show, I met Ron Jaworski, Calais Campbell and Frank Caliendo... and to the best of my knowledge, all of those guys made it through the weekend unscathed...

Weird fact: My mom for some reason loves Pitbull. She is 72 years young. Thinks he is sexy.

I honestly wasn't too excited about seeing him...Never listen to his music. However, I have to say he put on an amazing show. The Venue is a very small, intimate club, but man did he blow it out. He is quite the entertainer! Here is a picture I took that night:
