“You look at the great franchises. They don’t fire your coach after the first season. You can’t do it,” Thomas said.

“It sets everything back,” Thomas said. “You just hit the reset button. Anytime you hit the reset button, it severely damages the organization, and it lengthens the amount of time that it takes to get back to the playoffs and turn the team into a consistent winner. … I think that this organization needs continuity and that’s the only chance that we’re going to have to turn this team into a consistent winner.”

Any chance we could land a trade with the Browns for Joe Thomas? It's pretty obvious that this new regime wants to seriously clean house and Joe doesn't seem too happy about it. Thoughts?

I wish but I don't think the Browns will let go of him.

That place is falling apart, wait till everybody start looting the place and then see if we can get him at a steal. I'd offer a third for him probably, but I doubt they'd take that and I aint familiar with his contract, a rookie might be cheaper but it would allow us to draft differently.

I'd trade our first in a heartbeat for him not gonna find a better player at our draft position

As crazy as it would seem, I agree. I'd send the Browns a first for him....especially since ours is #20 this season and it is a position of need.

Bill Barnwell is pushing a theory that the Browns blew out Chud because they knew that a more preferred candidate was available to them with terms that have (essentially) been agreed to in advance.

He think's it's Josh McDaniels, and that they'll interview him this week rather than wait through the end of the Pats' playoff run.

Sounds about right with all the reports going around.

I heard bits and pieces of this, thanks for putting it together. This is the same Josh McDaniels who caused the trade of Cutler to the Bears and drafted Tebow in round 1?

Maybe he has matured or whatever but I gotta laugh even more at the Browns org now.

Actually, this could be great so he can trade us Joe Thomas for our 1st so he. Can draft Manziel!

Is that legal? Heard Whiz can't interview with a Texans due to being in playoffs.

NE has does not play this week, so any coaches on teams not playing can interview until Friday or Saturday. SD on the other hand does play this week.

IDK, he has to be close to 30 yrs old so a 1st rd pick may be a bit much. Sure Olineman can typically play well into their 30's but not all of them.

If SK can land a good LT, it sends a message that Arizona is a team to be reckoned with. Now and in the future. If we have to draft one, then we'll have to see how the draftee pans out. But I have so much faith in our FO that I'll be confident that whatever happens will be GOOD.

I don't know why it would matter but McDaniels has strong Ohio ties. His dad has been a long time very successful high school coach in the Cleveland area.

As for Thomas, Cam Heyward was beating him regularly last game and drew two holding penalties on him. I would take him though, without a doubt, but I'm not overpaying. It seems like SK is hesitant to move draft choices anyway, at least anything other than low rounders.
