What a legend. His commentary and voice are what originally got me excited about football.

Wow right after the Fox tribute on Saturday too, my all time favorite announcer and watched him coach as a kid, what a maniac he was on the side lines

A huge void has been created. He explained the game to the masses and the game was Far better for it. RIP.

He always broke it down. For me I loved how he pointed out the key blocks or the things that made the play happen. What a legend, I already missed him, but now he’s on the next plane. RIP!

oh wow...this sucks.

John Madden coached my first ever live football game. it was pre season and the Raiders destroyed the cowboys. all I had ever heard about was americas team, and tony dorsett,,,yada yada... so when I got the chance to see my local team play these cowboys all my friends loved I jumped on it. not only did the raiders beat them, but they beat them up...I swear they were carrying cowboys off the field on stretchers every other play.
that was the day I fell in love with nfl football, the raiders,...and coach madden.

I saw this thread and Johns voice popped in my head.."BOOM, he's on his back"...
Rest in peace coach

A classic. A great broadcast team and the six leg turkey. I still miss hearing him broadcast a game.
