I feel bad for the man, not the ballplayer. He has made a lot of money from baseball and if he never plays again, he will will survive. He needs to focus on the man now and get better and if walking away from the game and pressures, then so be it.

Yep. You are right. It just goes to show you how addiction is put in front of everything. He is supposed to make somewhere around 30 mill per year the next 3 years. That gets overlooked by abuse.

Sources: Hamilton resolution involves trade. Entire scenario could still fall apart, but agreement close.
Please don't trade him to the Giants.

Source confirms http://SI.com report. Says #Angels are "very close'' to parting ways with Josh Hamilton.

Rangers are getting a guy who, when his head is on right, is one of the top 5 hitters in baseball... and they'll be paying him only 5 million a year.

Unless the Angels are getting some decent prospects I don't get this trade for them. If he gets himself together he could be killing them for 19 games a season while they pay 80% of his salary.

My buddy who's a huge Rangers fan is telling me that Hamilton rejected a proposed deal that would've sent him to the Diamondbacks.

I doubt your buddy's source. Ignoring that the last thing the Dbacks need is another outfielder, the main reason I'm skeptical is that none of the parties involved are good at keeping secrets. This fiasco with Hamilton has seen its stories leak all over the place, each turn of events has been written about well in advance of anything being officially admitted. And the Diamondbacks have never been good about keeping things hush hush.

I suspect if the Dbacks had even made an inquiry we'd have heard about it.

Not only that, but the rumor that another team wanted him also said that team was going to take on 100% of his salary. Not even sending Trumbo back would made that salary easy to swallow.
