New #Royals 1B Carlos Santana says he really enjoys hitting at Kauffman Stadium, and certainly his career numbers prove it: .327./449./.628 with 18 homers and 61 RBI in 269 career ABs in KC. He wants to be a team leader like Alex Gordon was throughout his career.

I'd be curious what the Reds reasoning for not offering a contract to Archie was. Did they get him for just the playoff push?

Or did his giving up the deciding run in the Wild Card series against the Braves turn them off?

And did they realize, as many of us, that he has one pitch -- a fastball --and that every closing situation is an adventure?

Archie was great for public relations but, as a closer, his performances were disappointing.

Part of the blame has to be the D-backs not providing a legitimate closer to the team and expecting too much from Archie
when they promoted him into the role.

Molina balks at 'ridiculous' offer from Cardinals
Free agent catcher Yadier Molina has balked at a "ridiculous" offer from the Cardinals, reports Mark Saxon of The Athletic. Terms of the offer are unknown. Saxon says Molina is believed to be seeking at least a one-year deal worth $10 million, with an option for 2022. The Yankees and Mets were said to be in the hunt for Molina, though the Yankees did not non-tender Gary Sanchez and the Mets are reportedly nearing a deal with James McCann. The two New York teams are presumably out of the race.

Molina, 38, has spent his entire 17-year career with the Cardinals and, truth be told, it's hard to see him leaving at this point in his career. He's a legend in St. Louis. With another team, he's just an aging catcher nearing the end of his career. Molina made $20 million each of the last three seasons but at his age and with declining production, a pay cut is inevitable. The Cardinals are said to be cutting costs this winter as well.

I just don't understand why the Dbacks give up and trade away all their younger pitchers/players. Is that one or two Cy Young awards winners that we got rid of the last several years? :(. And for what?

Free agent Jackie Bradley Jr. is drawing interest from the Phillies, Cubs, and Blue Jays, among other teams, as I mentioned this morning on@MLBNetwork
. Bradley, 30, is coming off a season in which he posted a 118 OPS+, his best since 2016.@MLB

Not a shock, Trevor Bauer is too expensive for Reds. So he will be pitching elsewhere next year. Still, they shouldn’t have too many regrets. He got them to the playoffs and pitched a gem when there, and he won the Reds first Cy Young Award. Plus, they will get a draft pick.
