Before Saban was a title there in 2009 the Crimson Tide had won one national championship in the previous 30 years. They had a bunch of underachieving coaches before him who didn’t win much. He’s the GOAT.

With NIL and the 12 team playoff, it's not going to be the same college football that Saban dominated going forward. He could see the writing on the wall and picked a good time to get out with his legacy intact.
