It's a shame that Black is the scapegoat for a first time GMs knee ******** season moves. He got fired for a .500 record with a .500 roster

I think SD has a better than .500 roster. Plus, they have J-Up, superstar.

Hopefully former ASU coach Pat Murphy can end up getting that head job at some point

I think his 12 home runs and .857 OPS would look pretty good in our outfield right now.

If he would still perform at that level here. Change of scenery did him some good. Plus, he has started his usual "Cool down when the temps get warm"

He has an .832 career OPS. That is pretty damn good. I think he'd have done fine here, just as he did over the majority of his career here. Way too much was put on one down (but still decent) season when he was playing injured.

The real problem is that scouts painted him as the next Ken Griffey and when he turned out to 'only' be really good, people were let down. Oh, and the smear campaign by our former juvenile front office didn't help.

It takes time to meld all that high priced talent the Padres acquired into a team. Management could have pulled the trigger too soon or it could be that Black wasn't the proper guy for the current roster.

I read somewhere that the Padres may be leaning that way. Milwaukee inquired about hiring Pat Murphy for a position and San Diego did not give them permission to talk with him.

He could get the manager job or the bench coaching job. Either one.

Murph will turn that squad around. Too bad the Padres are in our division!
