That means that the Patriots are planning on the 2 TE power threat like the Gronk and Hernandez back a few years ago with the Tim Wright addition??

Being a Pats fan, I was hoping they would somehow be able to pry Housler from the Cards. I really think the Pats and Cards could have been a good fit on this one. The Cards have pretty good depth at TE and IMO have a need at guard. The Pats have a need at TE and obviously wanted to trade Mankins, who although in decline the past few years is still a top tier guard IMO. Seeing what they got for Mankins, I still would rather it was Housler and a 4th instead of Tim Wright and a 4th. Maybe I am overrating Housler. The trade went down between Belichick and someone with ties to NE so the Cards may never have had a chance. But, If the offer was made, do you feel the Cards would/should have traded for Mankins if the price was Housler and a 4th?

Wow Mankins is average at best. Licht just received his first lesson. Don't trade with BB!

For what it is worth, PFF disagrees with you.

I like the deal for the Bucs, it helps them at QB, brings a vet pressence up front, and adds toughnes as well.

I don't think it kills the Pats by any means, but I'm not sold on their other two OGs. It is the AFC though, which is pretty weak.

The interior of the DEN line blew up Mankins in the AFC championship game. This is smart by Pats.

As Mitch suggested, Housler for Ridley.

As Mitch suggested, Housler for Ridley.

Although strange things happen in NE, I could never see that happening. Mike Reiss, the writer who started the story, is known to throw a bunch of crap against the wall to see what sticks. I think that is what he was doing here. IMO, Ridley is the Pats best RB even with the fumble issues(overblown in my opinion) and although they all have different strengths, none of the Pats other backs bring what Ridley does to the table. (although I have hope for Jonas Gray) Ridley is a straight up 1st down/2nd down, run between the tackles power back with speed enough to break a long one once in awhile. IMO, he would immediately become the Cards number one RB. I really like Ellington, and think he is one of most dangerous RB's in the league especially on passing downs, but Ridley is/was a 1200 yd rusher. Housler, I would say is currently 3rd on the Cards depth chart as far as TE's go. I think he would actually fit NE's scheme better than he fits AZ's. It is all a moot point now since NE picked up Wright and (hopefully) no longer have a need for a "move" TE. I just preferred Housler to Wright and wondered how AZ fans felt. Whether they thought Housler and a pick would have been worth it to get Logan Mankins.
