Shawn Green homered in each game of today's doubleheader against the Braves. Just thought I'd pass it along. I don't really care either way since we had no use for him. Hope he does well in NY just as long as it isn't against us.

If you don't care, why did you post this? I for one am very happy Green is gone. Now only if our dumba$$ manager would play the young guys every day and get them the experience they need for next year.

Is he playing the young guys every day? I still see Counsell getting some starts, even Clark and Easley in the past few weeks. Sit those guys and even sit Gonzo out for a few games. If Gonzo doesn't like it, tough. He won't be here next year anyway. I want to see Young in the lineup every day. Now that they have Montero up, play him every day. Estrada most likely won't be here next year and Snyder sure is not the future. Knowing Melvin, he probably thinks this team is still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

I guess you missed where Drew has been dealing with a nagging hand injury for the last couple weeks, hence the infrequent starts for Counsell. Snyder sure isn't the future? Go look up his numbers this season. He is going to be a very good catcher, either here or for some other team if Montero beats him out. You must remember that most of these young guys have never played this deep into a season, so burning them out by playing them literally every day like you are suggesting isn't a good idea either. By and large, the young guys are getting a very good deal of playing time.

Chill out Zona. I just thought some people might be interested seeing as how we traded him away two weeks ago. I am glad he's gone too but seriously lighten up. By the way, Melvin is playing our young guys buddy.

You have to be kidding about Snyder? All he has is a solid arm. He has rocks for a brain. The young guys getting burned out, please. They are in their early 20's and they need all the playing experience now. I don't want Gonzo, Counsell, Clark and Easely playing this month. I want the young guys to play so by the time spring training comes around, they will feel a lot more comfortable and not feel like they have to press.

Sorry if I sound pissed but I had a lot of hope a month ago that this team had a good shot at making the playoffs. It kinda of feels like 2000 but more like last year. I just want to see the guys who will be here next year play and the ones who won't to sit.

My apologies to anyone who got offended. I did not mean to. I'm just glad this team won it all in 2001. I guess I could not handle being a Cubs fan.

At least we learned our lesson from the Tony Clark debacle. Every time I see freaking Tony Clark whiff I cringe at the thought that we did not trade him and actually signed him to an extension last season in spite of him actually having value for probably the first time in a decade. I only wish we had gotten rid of Gonzo when we had the chance, this team desperately needs young pitching.

You're right, all Snyder has is a solid arm. Oh, and a decent bat. His defense and upside aren't bad either. He's hitting .290/.373/.428 in 145 at bats this year, that's doing pretty well for a catcher. He isn't Joe Mauer by any means, but Chris Snyder is nothing to scoff at and is proving a lot of doubters wrong this year.

I don't care how young you are, major league baseball is still a very difficult grind physically and mentally to those that haven't experienced it before. Most young players have never played at this intensity this long into the year, and it does take its toll. You see the production of young rookies drop off at the end of the year all of the time because they have simply not been through this schedule before and the workload gets to them.

But if you want chastise Melvin because he is resting an injured Drew and won't exhaust all the other players by "only" playing them most of the time rather than every single day on the schedule for over a month, then by all means...

Playing in the majors is a grind physically and mentally? Playing and travelling in the minors is a grind physically and mentally. These young players on the Diamondbacks are living the luxury. No way they are getting tired. They are experiencing their childhood dreams. And as for the intensity, there is none. The Diamondbacks are not in a playoff hunt and these guys are happy to be playing in the majors.

As for Snyder, I know you have your opinions and I have mine, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way about Snyder.

Okay you truely lost me on this..... 145 at bats and you are saying all this other stuff about his production not dropping off because of the physical toll?

I'm sorry but you are 4 or 5 steps off base on this IMO. 145 at bats is like nearly 30 games where others are playing 160..... Snyder hasn't proved anything

No, the Chris Snyder stuff has nothing to do with the physical toll stuff, I was replying to two seperate points brought up by Zona in one post. Snyder has started 45 games this season which isn't a lot, but he is showing that he is making great strides since joining the big leagues two seasons ago.

I think Snyder has a good arm and bat. However, he has WAY too many passed balls for the amount of games he's played.
