Okay, I used their service, and I'm glad there's something there for this purpose, and my economics teacher always said that in every transaction, both parties always come out ahead since if they didn't, the transaction would not take place.

That said, I've assisted a friend who purchased eight seats with the expectation of using two and selling six to every game (hey, you won't find me selling my tickets: fans of the other team might buy them). He sold them on StubHub where he sets the price and StubHub finds a buyer. To pay for their services, StubHub charges the seller 20% of the sales price.

Cut to yesterday when I had opportunity to purchase some tickets at StubHub. After finding my seats, I learn that StubHub charges the buyer a 10% service fee for their service.

So StubHub takes 30% of every sale (in fairness StubHub takes 30% of the list price which amounts to 27% of the amount paid by the buyer). And I used to think Ticketmaster fees were too high.

For me, eBay offers lower fees for selling tickets, but StubHub is a more targeted market and you can get more money for your tickets. There is a trade-off, but all methods are better than calling all your friends to see who wants them -- like we did before the Internet.

So if a person wants to buy tickets, the cheaper ones are on ebay?

Have you used Stub Hub (which is owned by eBay, by the way)?

You can actually click on a part of the stadium and it shows you all the tickets in that section by row and seat number. The value of StubHub is twofold: 1) consolidation of all available seats into one view, and 2) they handle the shipping/customer service of shipping the tickets. They take a higher %age of money, but there is supposed to be more security as they stand behind each transaction.

Ebay is cheaper, in general. I think it's because eBay charges for listings and the sellers tickets are on eBay for a short period of time (generally one week). On StubHub, you can list tickets for free and list them for a long time.
