I know this is really off topic but there are a lot of Cardinals/Cardinals fans that post here.

Tonight had to be the most amazing finish to a Major League Baseball season I've ever seen.

Let's hope our other Cardinals take a page from their baseball counterparts and rally to make the playoffs.

The Cardinals have completed one of the greatest comebacks in baseball history. On the morning of Aug. 25, they trailed the Braves by 10 1/2 games in the NL Wild Card race, and were 10 behind the Brewers in the NL Central. Since then, they've gone 23-9, while Atlanta went 11-20.

followed the football team since they were in St. Louis and then became a fan of Cardinal baseball shortstop Ozzie Smith and though I'm not a huge baseball fan, I was really proud of the way the baseball Cards pulled of the amazing and got into the playoffs today

...and I still think that call against the Cards playing the Royals was one of the worst blunders of ref history-regardless of the sport

I'm a huge braves fan so tonight I am on despressions doorstep plus I live in new england so I watched both collapses unfold. Go figure the braves strength, the bullpen, would be their undoing.

Baseball is BORING for 170 games...but honestly, pennant races and the MLB playoffs are some of the most exciting sports events I can remember.

I'm a Pirates fan and have to deal with the curse of Sid Bream, so I am overjoyed to see the hated Braves fall, and in embarrassing fashion at that.

First of all - a quotable quote:

"Now we go to Feely and keek they ass!" - Yaddie Molina (amidst the spray inside the Houston visitors' clubhouse).

I have been following the entire journey - from Spring Training til now - watching all but a handful of games on satellite tv.

There were two unlikely indicators that caught my attention early on. One was Lance Berkmann (whose gas tank was a lot farther from empty than the pundits had indicated) and Danny Descalso (aka Mr. Clutch) - a throwback to an era when winning teams would always have one player who seemed just so-so in every statistical department but whose grit would invariably win you a half dozen or more games.

And then - in August during the nose-dive - I will admit to sticking in the proverbial fork. And I was wrong.

All season long, the buzz around the Cardinals was that they were an extremely tight ball-club filled with high character vets (who made certain a handful of raw youngsters - from Descalso, Jay, Freese & Craig, to Salas and Motte - learned how to stay loose and felt they were part of the team effort).

They knew they had what it took to prevail, and kept the faith that, if they just kept grinding, the odds would probably even out and "cream would eventually rise to the top." Which, apparently it just did.

I've actually rooted for the bb Cardinals for a year or two longer than I have the football Cardinals (ever since my dad gave me a ball autographed by Terry Moore). But this year's journey to the playoffs has been more rewarding than any other I can recall, because of the true grit of this year's team and the fact that, thanks to the Internet and satellite tv, I've felt more a part of the roller coaster that's been the 2011 season.

Yippee!

Simply AMAZING...

I began following professional sports in the summer of 67'. Growing up in New England (CT.) everyone was pulling for the Red Sox in the World Series, but to this 10-year old the Cardinal uniforms were so much cooler. After winning the world championship, I then happily discovered that St. Louis also had a football team. With a really kool helmet! So, I went from baseball to football and then on to even hockey with the Blues (Luv' the blue note crest)

In all my 40+ years of following my teams this latest Cardinal "comeback" ranks up there with the very best. Heart...determination..it was all on display the past month. When you pull for an under-dog the joy of winning is always DOUBLED!!doubled! It's something tha fans of front-runner, big-market teams (ie; Cowboys, Yankees, Red Sox, etc.) will NEVER understand or experience.

As I shared w/ my wife this morning...all the magical craziness of last nite...she summed it up this way... So, ALL the "David"s won ( ie; David vs. Goliath) I smiled. YUP! They did! Some day our Cards' football team will do it. It'll probable come as a shock to all of us. ...And we'll know on that day, too, that the "Davids" in this world do win from time to time.

GO CARDS! :)

One more thing. I remember reading on here a couple years back that Joe Maddon--Tampa Bay Rays mgr. is a BIG AZ.Cardinals' fan. Very happy for him, too. :)

Imagine being a Cardinal football and a Cubs baseball fan. 100 years without winning a World Series while your hated rival in St.Louis has won more than any other team in MLB besides the Yankees and almost twice as many as any other NL team.

And who moved this over here were only about 5 people will see it? :p

I've been a Cardinal fan for a long enough time to have seen Lou Brock in his prime.

My dad who's getting very old basically can't do much anymore and watches every game, I call him almost every night and even though I don't follow baseball much anymore, haven't for years it was priceless listening to him the last month.

He's very negative, he'd say stuff like they're just done, they don't care, they pissed another one away last night etc.

Now to hear him tell it they were just sucking the last month, I asked him the other day if they had a chance he said no, basically they had to win every game and Atlanta had to lose almost all their last few games.

So I forget all about it until this morning I see the news and I call him, his first words were, ah they don't have a chance.

I said, "They have a lot better chance than the teams who are sitting at home right now".

Then I see they went like 25 out of 31 to finish the season, that's just amazing and I know the Phillies aren't scared of anyone, true enough but if there's one team I would not want to play right now in the NL the Cardinals would be that team.

We'll see, pretty special.

BTW they are the only team I've ever rooted for that has had any lingering success, it's just a shame that baseball is fading away in popularity.

Live in Paducah KY. and have always followed the baseball Cards and Wildcats.

Favorite memory was when Ozzie Smith hit the walk off homerun against

the Dodgers in 85. Go crazy folks Go crazy

It's a baseball topic! that's why it was moved here

Besides, the D Backs forum is a much more tolerable place to hang these days. As you may have noticed, I'm on posting hiatus from the Cards forum indefinitely.

I rarely root for the baseball Cards as I have been a Cub fan since I was a football Cards fan starting in 1945. Since they are from the Central Division I hope they go as far as they can but I see the Phillies walking all over everyone in the NL. To much pitching. If your hero Albert departs after this year I sure hopes he moves out of the Central Division. I really cannot see him ever leaving St Louis. He could look forward to his statue being erected after he retires. Money talks and long contracts also talk so Albert may just depart. That would be like Ernie Banks leaving the Cubs. Is Albert better than Stan Musial? Probably but it is close as Musial was one of the best I ever saw.

So what? Its about the Cardinals! There are a bunch of Cards/Cards fans who post on the football board. Almost nobody posts here. :D

Did you get banned? Otherwise there is no reason to just stop posting. There are several posters who can't do anything but type in jerk. I just put them on ignore. I've been talking Cardinal football since 1960. Nothing is going to make me stop now.

LOL no, but you could consider it a "self-ban" if you want :D .

I was in such a pissy mood after the game, I didn't even want to think about it. I sent a text to Arizona's Finest expressing my emotions after and left it at that. Haven't read the recap, quotes, or posts from the game. Don't intend on doing so until the next game, if we win.

The worst part about it is that I was in Hawaii all week for a conference and took 4 hours out of my Sunday to watch that garbage at a local sports bar, when I could have been snorkeling, hiking, or sight seeing.

But that's why I've sought refuge here in Diamondback land. At least one of my teams is succeeding and has a chance at a title. AZ Cards....well....not so much.

Hey but the "Cardinals" did something good for you. They sent the Dbacks to Milwaukee instead of Philly. Well I guess that's a good thing. :D

Something in our favor: 9 Wild Card teams have made the World Series since 1999 including every year from 2002-2007.
