Anybody else kind of excited to watch his MLB debut?

I picked him up for my fantasy team. I think I'll keep him.

From buried within twitter: "Stephen Strasburg's curveball just punched physics in the eye and stole its girlfriend."

I went camping for a week and forgot we had a ASFN league, I dropped from 3rd to 3rd to last.

Kid is IMPRESSIVE!!! Cant wait to see what he can do when he gets comfortable.

On a side note, do you think Bryce Harper will see time late in the season for the Nats or will they wait til next season?

The kid is 17 years old and going to play a new position. Two to three years before we see him.

Bryce Harper won't be signed until August because MLB doesn't like to announce contracts over slot until just before the deadline. That means Harper doesn't start his pro career until next season. He could play in the Fall League, though I doubt they will make this is debut. You won't see Harper near the majors until 2013 at the earliest. From all accounts the kid needs to grow up and at 17 he has the time.

From what I heard he is going to catch which is what he did in college. Being 17 will hinder him but in the interviews I have seen he seems fairly grown up. The kid hit damn near a 500ft homerun at 16 years old.

When they drafted him they announced him as an outfielder. They don't want him to wear down playing catcher. He will be their right fielder when he finally gets to the bigs.

I was unaware, he keeps saying he wants to catch FWIW.

He can say what he wants but the team that gives you about $12 mil will have the final say. He wants to catch because he will make a ton more money there but in the end the Nats will win out and he will move to right field.

Gave up 2 hits 1 being a home run and had 8 k's in 6 innings for his second start. not bad.

Don't forget 5 walks and 95 pitches and 52 for strikes in that 5 innings. Reminds me of Max with that outing.

Scherzer is tough subject for me. I dont think we should have ever made that trade.:mulli:

Regardless of the 5 walks and throwing just over 50% strikes it was still only his 2nd start. If he doesnt go all Kerry Wood on us he just might be something special in a few years.

Why not? Kennedy is doing well and Jackson is starting to pitch better. Scherzer has been pretty awful all season.

IMO Scherzer has the biggest upside of the 3.

I'm pretty happy with the deal. I like Kennedy a lot, I think he could be a solid #3 starter in the rotation for a while. He's crafty, has good command of three pitches, and sets up hitters well. Jackson has fairly comparable stuff to Scherzer and a better third pitch though he is older.

FWIW, Jackson is only 1 year older than Max. I don't think this is even debatable... Max is all about the what-if, while Jackson gets it done now.
For the most part, many have always felt that Scherzer is more of a closer than a starter. I agree... Jackson is a legit, better than average starter with better than average stuff. Max has better than average stuff, but is not at all a consistent starter. Never has been...
