Wow. How unprofessional can one organization be? They have possible the worst GM in the history of sports. Now you have the star player demanding the coach get fired, the coach then going PUBLIC with the story, and Dwight crashing the interview and smiling like a jackass.

More than anyone Ive lost every ounce of respect I could have for Dwight. He crashes the interview smiling and calling out to other players saying "We aint worried about that (Stan getting fired) right Jameer!", he says that line with an evil grin and his arm around Stan, as Stan tries to squirm away.

Then later that night Dwight goes out and dogs it as bad as I have seen a player dog a game since Vince was in Toronto.

Wow, you're really coming at this from the opposite angle I would have expected. Unless it comes out that Dwight stormed into the management office and demanded Stan's firing, I'm going to guess that the organization asked for his opinion. That's pretty common when you've got a star like Howard, especially when you're making efforts to get him to re-sign. Even if Dwight did request it on his own, it's hard to fault him when you watch Stan on the sidelines.

I find much more fault with whoever leaked the information (from what was obviously intended to be a private conversation) to Stan in the first place. I also find much more fault in Stan's decision to throw Dwight under the boss by talking about it today. He looked like a man on a mission to me, a mission to get fired. As for Dwight's play tonight, his coach just made him look like a fool AND he's dealing with back spasms. It's been a dysfunctional team at times for a few years now and the credit for that falls mostly on Van Gundy (and management for not firing him a few years ago).

I'd like to see Nash go there next year... hell, they can even bring DA down there to coach. That would be kind of fun to watch I think.

To keep him from opting out of his contract, the Magic gave Howard the power to fire Van Gundy.

Dont get me wrong, Van Gundy is an absolute stiff. He is pathetic as a coach and, as I mentioned, him going public and saying "I know Dwight wants me fired" is absurdly unprofessional. But the way Dwight conducted himself crashing the interview made me want to puke. Making a joke of wanting the guy fired, putting your arm around him and pretending that everyone should have a laugh.

So, he has a good laugh right in his coaches face, then beats to death the "the only thing we're worried about is winning a title" company line BS. And follows all that up by mailing in a game as blatantly as any I've ever seen. The 1919 White Sox would have been embarrassed by his effort.

Orlando is a stupid team for not trading him and Hedo for Lopez + picks. They deserve this. They actually deserve worse. I hope Howard says he wants the Magic to relocate from Orlando to somewhere else.

Funny, Howard's BEST FRIEND Deron Williams got Jerry Sloan fired...then got himself traded. Now let's see if Dwight will follow his path.

Dwight and Deron should team up and have some nitwit coach them. Sounds like those kids deserve each other. Just as long as it's not in Phoenix.

What the hell are you talking about?:doi:

The Nets had offered Brook Lopez, picks, maybe even Marshon Brooks/Morrow to Orlando for Dwight and the overpaid Hedo.

But they were dumb (like us when we had Amare) and declined to trade him.

Brook Lopez has bad wheels. How many games has he missed so far?

Brook Lopez has bad wheels. How many games has he missed so far?

“The Nets have nine games remaining and Brook Lopez will not play in any of them. Nets GM Billy King announced Friday night, before the Nets’ 110-98 victory over the Washington Wizards at Prudential Center, that Lopez’s 2011-12 season is over. ‘Brook will not play the rest of this year,’ King said of Lopez, who finishes the season with five games played, and a scoring average of 19.2. ‘He’s healing nicely, but with (nine) games to go, and him being a (restricted) free agent and looking at the future, we decided to shut him down for the rest of the year.’ "

I wouldn't. Howard is handling this whole situation like a 5 year old. I don't think he deserves to have Nash go help him in Orlando.

Well, Van Gundy isn't exactly being an adult here.

This season is his first season in which he has missed any time. I wouldn't call that "bad wheels."

I mean hell then you can call Derrick Rose that as well.

True. But I was mainly referring to the entire season.

"I'm staying. Trade me. I'm staying. Trade me. OK, I'll stay."

Are you sure about that?

Steve
Absolutely.

Book Lopez will miss the remainder of the 11-12 season ahead of his restricted free agency.
Lopez didn't miss a single game in his first three seasons, but played in only five this season.
“It was a collective effort,” Billy King said. “I talked to [agent] Arn Tellem in L.A. and we decided I didn’t want to make the decision for Brook because of him being a free agent,” King said. “But everybody thought it best for [him] not to risk anything the rest of this year.
“He understands that the future is more important. He’d like to play. But he knows there is a lot more basketball down the road,” said King.
“We’re headed in the right direction,” King said.

Absolutely.

And you're right. Lucky me, I worded it as a question. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to look it up but I really thought he'd missed some time his first season.

Sounds much like his brother but without the injury. Our Lopez has not missed a single game this season either but played in only 7 or 8 this season. :D

The story is out is that Management did not approach DW at all. Sounds like Howard asked to meet with management on 2 different occasions and asked that the team get rid of Van Gundy. Van Gundy confirmed with Management it occurred. He probably should have never commented on the confirmation and just made some generic comment and told the media to talk to management.

What adds insult to injury is Howard is playing the "duh" card like an idiot. On the video it made him look real bad that first it was confirmed (which Howard did not know) and he tried to buddy up with Van Gundy and then deny it. Did you see how quickly Van Gundy got out of there once Howard put his arm around him and tried to play it off????

What a moron. Sounds like he could resist going over to the press to find out what was going on and after he was caught was like a little kid trying to squirm out of it. Made him look even more two faced by putting his arm around Van Gundy.

The entire situation was handled badly. This happens all the time though in a league run by players. The only difference is everyone opened their mouths to the press.

DW might be a two faced person on a personal level but I will still take the player on my team in a heartbeat.

Howard's a douche. He got so much athletic ability but sounds like he's not with it behind the scenes. Team and chemistry killer and who quits on their team like he has several times? It is his team isn't it?
