The Steelers are world champs so you would think they would have the money to sign their free agents. Well all they have done this off-season is tag Max Sparks. They can't even sign their top player, defensive MVP James Harrison.

Sound familiar? Seem moronic? BECAUSE IT IS. No team has really done much so don't complain about the Cards. We are in all new territory too. We finished the season in February so we had to get ready for the scouting combine, not to mention find coaches. To complain is stupid. Let us wait until after the draft to complain because I am willing to bet money that come May all of the things we are complaining about will be taken care of, including Boldin.

Agree....owners are going to tighten up the purse strings this offseason, this making it difficult for players to lock up long-term deals.

I was really surprised to see Starks get franchised, I've been hearing the last 2 years that he was on the verge of being replaced.

It is surprising but I think that they are just protecting themselves at the tackle position. There is such a high demand for tackles that you rarely ever see them make it to free agency and if they do they are often snapped up.

Does the name Levon Kirkland ring a bell for you? Chad Brown? How about Jason Gildon? Kendrell Bell? Joey Porter?

All pro-bowl linebackers for the Steelers, all let go while still playing well rather than being given big contracts. Some, like Brown and Porter, have had success elsewhere. Some, like Kirkland and Bell, were horrible afterwards. But all of them were replaced.

Harrison's going to turn 31 in a couple of months. Anybody who thought the Steelers were going to give him big money was fooling themselves.

It was a surprise that the Steelers gave Starks the transition tag last year after he had a down year.

However, Starks has been playing very good this season.

The other tackle is Marvel Smith, but he's getting up there in age, so I'm guessing the Steelers are letting Starks play the left side from now on.

They dont have to sign Harrison. He is already udner contract. They want to extend him but it isnt a priority.

Also Pitt has 54 players under contract. If we count the Lewis signing and our two RFA tenders we only have a league low 42 players under contract.

The league average is 54 by the way. So we have a lot more room to make up for then every other team in the league.

I wont get worried until later though since FA doesnt even start until 10PM tonight and some other things can and probably will come down the wire today IMO.
