but refs aren't watching in super-slow mo. and even if they were, he still HIT the facemask, which makes it an automatic blow to the head. Not sure how people deny that.

I agree. Bang bang play. I thought it was a facemask in real time as well.

It's a shot to the head of a QB or face mask period, either way a penalty and correct call. Been called that way for years.

Hmmmm. Suspect at best. Was not a blow to the head and did not grab facemask. A call like that extended the game and eventually influenced the result - that's the biggest issue I have. I will agree though , that in real time it appeared as a facemask.

He becomes a runner at that point and a shot to the head is no different than if he were a rb. In realtime it looks like a face mask so that drew the flag.

let's put this on the other foot for all those who didn't think it was a penalty. if that was Palmer and not Rodgers on that facemask play, are you telling me you wouldn't have been screaming till the cows came home if they didn't call it? Even I would have slammed the refs in that situation and I'm always loathe to blame the refs for losses.

Scott van pelt just brought up that this is the third straight game that has the final play being a game winning TD. Blocked fg for a TD, cj's run, and the Hail Mary

Correct call and IMO the lions got lucky the play before should have been PI in field goal range anyway.

Real time it looked like a facemask. If it was Palmer I would be saying how lucky we got.

I dont blame the refs for the call.

This was sent from my cell pjone so please excise any typeos or other errors.

Real time I would agree and be screaming for the call if it was Palmer. Slow-mo I would say that we got away with one but as stated the refs see it in real time so I can't get hung up on the call. I had the Lions +3 in my pool so I'm sure that's influencing my judgement as well lol

Play before looked a lot like offensive pass interference to me.

At full speed, it looked like a facemask, but the replay would have had me thanking the universe at how lucky we got. It was not a penalty.

Touching the facemask isn't a penalty. By the letter of the law its grabbing, controlling & twisting of the helmet.

Bad call.

From Florio @ PFT:

“No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction,” Rule 12, Section 2, Article 14 states.

The rule comes with an important caveat: “If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.”

No foul.
