Again, I'm making this a general list as saying which team was better would be completely subjective. That's not to say that this list is completely subjective:

 1998 Minnesota Vikings
 1974 Oakland Raiders
 1985 Miami Dolphins
 1986 Chicago Bears
 1990 SF 49ers
 1992 SF 49ers
 1999 Indianapolis Colts
 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers
 2005 Indianapolis Colts
 2006 San Diego Chargers
 2009 San Diego Chargers
 2010 New England Patriots
 2011 Green Bay Packers
 2012 Denver Broncos
 2015 Arizona Cardinals

Chuck Knoll must have cracked a few heads because after their 1-4 start they went on a tear. However, the benefited from a somewhat weak schedule and 3 of their 4 losses were against eventual playoff teams. Of their 10 wins, only 2 were against teams with winning records(Cincinnati and Cleveland). Small wonder they lost to Oakland. Truth be told, I'd put their defense up against any throughout history.
