Broncos running back Travis Henry wins appeal, avoids suspension for drug test
td.yspwidearticlebody { font-size: 13.5px; }December 4, 2007

DENVER (AP) -- Broncos running back Travis Henry won his appeal of a one-year suspension over a failed drug test.
"We are pleased with this outcome and happy that Travis has been absolved of any wrongdoing with respect to this matter," the team said in a statement Tuesday. The NFL told Henry in September he had failed a test for marijuana. He disputed the results and sued the NFL to avoid a suspension. He contended the league violated its substance abuse policy by not allowing an expert of Henry's choosing to be present for the testing.

It's always nice, for me, to find out a guy isn't doing something he's not supposed to. Maybe he just found a loophole but I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt.

They didn't say he was clean they said the NFL didn't allow him to follow their own rule so that voided his test if I understand it correctly.

Well, the obvious answer is that pot's illegal. I can't imagine it being much of an advantage for a player but breaking the law is high on the list of no-no's in the NFL right now.

All I'm gonna say is drinking and smoking is far worse than getting stoned. Ive been down all 3 paths. Weed is illegal due to concepts of "reefer madness" from many many years ago that have since been proven completley false.

All true but you play in the NFL you do so knowing there are banned substances and pot is one of them.

If my company tested for drugs and I tested positive for one I'd lose my job, it'd be my fault not a stupid rule.

Word here in Denver is that as soon as the decision was handed down he went out and impregnated a stranger in celebration.

...I wonder where my wife is.

have you tried them all by chance? If so its amazing you even ask that.

I agree that if it is a rule you should abide by your employer, but it shouldnt be a rule. All drug testing finds is pot, cokeheads and whatnot can get away with it because it leaves in 3 days and they are a far bigger problem than a pot smoker.
