Tucson floated as possible Raiders home in 2019

Add Tucson to the list of potential Raiders homes for 2019.

With the Raiders and Oakland in the middle of a dispute, and with the Raiders’ Las Vegas stadium not ready until 2020, it remains unclear where the Raiders will play this year. Tucson attorney Ali Farhang says he talked to Raiders president Marc Badain about the possibility of the Raiders playing their 2019 home games at Arizona Stadium, the 56,000-seat stadium where the University of Arizona Wildcats play.
According to Farhang, Badain listened and they agreed to have further dialogue.

It’s a long shot, but we’re going to put our best foot forward to turn impossible into possible,” Farhang told the Arizona Daily Star.

Farhang says he has the approval of the University of Arizona to try to facilitate a deal, and he also says he got the blessing of Arizona Cardinals, who play just two hours away in Glendale. So while it is a long shot, Tucson is getting itself ready for the possibility of hosting the Raiders for eight games.

If you are considering Tucson, why not just move to Las Vegas early and play at Sam Boyd?

Apparently Sam Boyd isn't even up to minimal NFL standards...especially when it comes to security.
Hard to imagine it can be worse than Stubhub Center oh oops sorry I mean Dignity Health Sports Park.

As a local Tucsonan, that would be cool to have NFL games in town.
Looking at there home opponents next season, seems like you'll have a lot of opportunities for cheap tickets. Outside of KC and CHI, not a lot of big draws. I'd definitely be interested and making a trip down on an Cards away Sunday.

KC, LAC, DEN, TEN, CHI, DET, JAX, CIN

Would be a great way to raise some money to get Sumlin some of the facility improvements he needs there.

LOL gross. It'd be cleaner if the Raiders just played a season in the dump on 43rd Avenue and Buckeye.

Just guessing, but I'd be surprised if the Bidwills didn't have territorial rights to any NFL games hosted in AZ.

I guess the Bidwills could grant permission if the price were right, but I'd kinda doubt it.

The Galaxy stadium is a great stadium. It is just too small for the NFL, well everyone except the fanless Chargers.

Cardinals have already gave them the green light

And Arizona Stadium is? LMAO.

With the renovations, I think so. The west side entrances and ingress and egress are questionable and parking is definitely an issue. I can't imagine the school wants to give up the mall to raiders fans for tailgating on Sundays.

Can't believe they aren't taking advantage of a golden opportunity to move to San Diego. Already huge SoCal Raider fan base, and a community stung several times by LA taking its teams away. SD is way bigger and a much better community long term to host and NFL level of team.

Seriously, already a big fan base like you said, an NFL ready stadium and it's only for one year

Well the Raiders should be comfortable playing in a baseball stadium as that is what they have been doing in Oakland. Additionally it will be easier for their customer base as its just across the Bay Bridge.

I was just in San Jose last week and spent time with my Raider fan buddy. The SF deals seems to be the most logical, and what most are anticipating.

I'm of the belief that the Raiders are never going to go to Vegas. This is a game of chicken and the city is going to blink.
