Remember there was a lot of complaining here by me and others that we took Fitz over Roy because at the time we thought we needed a speed WR and Roy was faster than Fitz. For the first 3 years of his career that was debatable, Roy had 8, 8 and 7 TD's over 15 YPC on bad Detroit teams and the only real advantage Fitz had was durability, otherwise they were pretty close.

Since then Roy Williams has fallen off a cliff. This will be his 4th consecutive year without playing a full season(has done it only once in 7 seasons) and despite doubling last years reception total, he's still only got 38 catches this year so 3rd consecutive year with under 50 catches(and the 2 prior years he had less than 20 catches playing only 5 and 10 games).

I have to believe he's lost quite a bit of speed with all the injuries otherwise his demise makes no sense at all? This is actually his best year in awhile, 38 catches 15 YPC 7 TD's.

Boy am I glad that Green and Graves stuck to their guns and picked Fitz.

Has always been hugely overrated russ. Has really only had 1 great year in football and that detroitvteam that year did nothing but throw. I laugh harder and harder when I remember what Jonesy gave up to get him from Detroit.

Detroit came out golden in that deal!

To an extent yes but to this extent no. His last 3 years consist of 29 games, 74 catches 9 TD's just over 1000 yards.

Fitz this year alone 15 games 94 catches 12 TD's over 1000 yards and that's being doubled a lot.

They're the same size, Fitz is 2 years younger, but any of Fitz' last 3 seasons are better than Williams last 3 seasons COMBINED. It's startling to me how far Williams has fallen?

First 3 seasons Fitz had only 1 more TD catch than Roy despite being on a team that threw more. Roy's 4th year was good but cut short by injury 12 games 64 catches 5 TD's, and since then he's been damn near horrible.

I was watching some of the Dallas game last night and he's not close to what he used to be.

And yes they gave up way too much to get him.

And what about the other RW? He was supposed to be all that, too and I don't even know who he plays for any more......

He is soft, has an inconsistent motor and never learned to run more than a handful of routes during his time in Detroit.

The other Roy Williams was coddled by Darren Woodson and the coaching staff, never forcing him to learn the playbook and just allowing him to freelance. When Woodson retired, Williams proved to be a mental midget and couldn't handle the playbook or playing outside of the box on a regular basis.

Remember the rookie WR that year that put up better numbers than BOTH Fitz and Williams? His last 5 seasons have been pretty forgettable so I won't blame you if you don't. I want to know what the heck happened to Michael Clayton. I know he hasn't ever really had a QB but talk about a flash in the pan. It must suck to have peaked in your rookie year.

Yeah great point Clayton's falloff has been pretty dramatic too, 80 catches as a rookie and hasn't topped 38 since.

I think Clayton has had nagging injuries he played 16 as a rookie and never has since.

Williams looked like a man among boys in college and even as a rookie he looked like a can't miss star. But you watch him now and he doesn't seem nearly as athletic. I'd understand it if he'd had multiple knee surgeries or something like that but it's just really strange to me how he just literally fell off a cliff in production after the injury season where he played 5 games.

Well said Shane. People get to caught up in size/speed of a particular player instead of his work ethic, route running and hands. Williams must lead the league in drops this year.

He doesn't run good routes, his hands suck, and he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to extend his arms in traffic. The only thing he can do well is catch fade routes, other than that he is worthless. It seems like he just relied on his god given talent to get by in HS/college and that doesn't equate to success in the pros, his work ethic has to be pitiful. That's the best trade Detroit's ever made.

That's what a few years on a pathetic team will do to you. See David Boston.

Williams never had any problems catching the ball at UT or running routes. Lack of work ethic + big money + pathetic team = poor player.

Takes a GAM like the Q to survive and thrive in that situation.

Nah dude was addicted to roids. He showed up in Chargers camp at about 260 lbs with next to no body fat and a neck thicker than a tree trunk. Ridiculous size for a WR.

Sure did. My wife's sister lives in Flower Mound so we were hearing about it.

Think of the odds. Not only does it rarely snow in Dallas it had to snow on the 24th to have a white Christmas.

Danged if it didn't start snowing here right after I replied this morning.

Maybe that is what's wrong with Roy E. Snow in Dallas at Christmas has thrown him off.

I was there couldn't believe it either. it took my in-laws 4 hrs to make it from arlington to denton.

as far as roy, duck i agree with ya. he has incredible hands, speed, and size. but for some reason he isn't clicking in dallas. the guy had a pro bowl year in detroit so you know he can be a #1 guy. I think that he and romo are not forming any type of chemistry. when you look at all of the other WR's on the team to include witten....romo has years of work with them. but it's perplexing because romo and owens clicked overnight. I guess it is unfair to compare williams to argueably the 2nd best WR ever to play the game?? williams is nothing more than a redzone weapon at this point. and that is fine by me. who says the cowboys couldn't replace T.O.'s TD's. because the austin/williams combo is putting him to shame.
