4 TD passes in the first half of his first NFL game...

I guess the system works...

Til Mariota has a bad half, and gets benched for Mortimer Snerd.

Good to see this young QB having a big first game. Will some people expect all his games to be like this? Puts a lot of pressure on him.

Kudos to Whiz, he got his QB AND he got a new defense coach from Pittsburgh :)

I credit the GM as well because without a good GM, Whiz would be Jeff Fisher.

I have seen Whiz have success with a good QB, and I have seen Ray Horton have success as a defensive coordinator. Furthermore, I am sure Dick LeBeau still knows a thing or two about playing defense.

But that is all I am going to say right now, at week 1.

It's because I told everybody I know that Mariotta wasn't going to be a good NFL quarterback. I did the same thing for Peyton Manning. At least this time around I wasn't calling Winston the next great one like I did with Ryan Leaf.

It doesn't matter who he played - it was a great performance, that is 4 TD in one HALF.

I'm sure he will come down, but he showed he can play QB in the NFL (decision making and arm strength), what more can you ask for in your first NFL game? That is like saying Quan's 217 yards his first game should have an asterisk because the opponent was the Lions.

They played the Buccaneers so.......

Yep, and I remember Cam Newton being crowned the next QB god of the century after his first NFL start (a loss to us no less)

Yes... Cam is a better than average QB, but hardly a savior to the franchise.

Lets see what the Duck does against a few good teams.

Lost in the shuffle was Jameis. Paled in comparison.

Go look back at RG3's first game... it's very early.

Mariota and RG3 are very different people from a leadership and personality standpoint. Mariota is humble and a great leader, while RG3 can be self-centered. Also, the Titans are not the soap opera that the Redskins are at the moment.

Mariota is going to be a very good QB in this league.
