I read somewhere (I'm reading to much, so no clue where) that there is an east team with a better deal than Detroit that has not been identified.

My guess is that it's Atlanta.

Bibby (expiring, Nash backup) and Horford work for Amare + 1 contract filler. No clue why they'd get rid of him but maybe they think Joe & Amare will resign to play together in 2010.

Who else do you guys think it could be? Toronto?

I heard that they are considering Philly's offer of Andrew Lang, Tim Perry and Jeff Hornacek.

Seriously, though. I kid, I kid.

Maybe Atlanta. Bibby and Horford and a pick would be nice. But Atlanta has a pretty high payroll right now, and is probably not going really far in the playoffs, so not sure they take on the extra salary (Bibby is a big expiring contract for them). Question is how far Amare without Bibby takes them this year? Can he get them past one of the other big 3 (Boston, Clevland, Orlando)?

Philly made some sense before Brand got hurt. They have the young forwards (Spreights, Young), and Andre Miller's expiring contract, but same issue as Atlanta. Do they take on the payroll of Amare? He would look good in their run n gun approach. And they have Dalambert to play a defending center with him. If we take back Miller, though, not sure who directs their running attack and does the pick n roll with Amare. Their involvement assumed they could move Brand somewhere else (maybe for a PG). Now that he is injured again, who knows.

Not sure Washington has anything to offer. Kerr won't give Amare to DA in NY. Toronto has nothing to send us but Bosh (which I'm down with). Boston is not viable. NJ no. Bobcats no. Bucks no. Orlando no. Maybe Clevland, but that's a stretch.

Memphis and OKC and Portland make all kinds of crazy sense, but are all in the West, and all markets where Amare might not re-sign.

Atlanta would really surprise me. Rumors were that they rejected a three-way deal a couple of years ago that would have netted them Stoudemire. And I think their ownership group is still fractured, right? Hard to see them making a big move for a questionable player.

New Jersey is in a lot of rumors, based on a package featuring Yi and Ryan Anderson, neither of whom shoots better than 40% from the field. They have Stromile "Not Too" Swift as an expiring contract and Trenton Hassell up in 2010, so the salaries could match and give the Suns what they allegedly want. That's a pretty sorry combination, though, unless at least one lightly protected pick were to be involved.

Huge irony if he goes to Clevland, however. They make the finals, and Andre Miller remains in Philly. Then the karmic PHX-CLE-PHI circle of trades for All Star PGs, Big Men and parts will be complete.

Took a couple of decades, but karma has no statute of limitations. :)

Bibby has been a vital part of Atlanta's return to respectability. Expiring contract or not, I don't see the Hawks trading him and leaving themselves with a huge void at PG.

Strange, I heard they were seriously looking at Clevland's offer Kevin Johnson, Mark West, Tyrone Corbin and some draft picks (might be valuable if a guy named Dan Majorle is available in the next draft).

Sarver just isn't feeling that one. His hindsight is 20/400.

How about we just trade Kerr back to Cleveland?

Nice. That's how the Suns got rid of him in 1989.

How about Jerrod Mustaf, Cedric Cebalos and Negele Knight for Bosh?

Here's an off the wall one, but what about Philly?

They're a team that has done infinitely better when they're a run and gun team and Brand just doesn't fit that style. Amare, as we have all seen, does. He's got a couple defensive centers to back him up and a PG that can feed him pretty well in Miller.

Not sure what package is there to be had, but maybe we could pry Thaddeous Young and a couple picks?

They'd probably want to throw Brand in return though :(

of course. there'd be no point in keeping amare and brand, because both are starting-caliber power forwards. With dalembert at center, there would be no need for both. it wouldn't be worth it to get young and picks from them, no thanks. they'd have to make a better deal than that.
