As most of you know Nolan Richardson was fired over a year ago as the Arkansas basketball coach. He was bought out for something like $5,000,000 plus some other accrued monies.
He sued the U. of Arkansas for a large sum of money for being fired for discrimination. The trial began about a week ago. It is something to behold. Nolan said on national TV that he wanted the Univeristy to fire him and buy him out of his contract. He went into a real tirade. Yesterday Houston Nutt the Arkansas head football coach said he and Nolan and the baseball, track, and other team coaches were all on a plane together and Nolan called Frank Broyles a "White haired devil" along with some other expleteives. Nolan really hates Frank Broyes. We have had the university Chancellor and President testify they were left with no choice after Nolans tirade on national TV.
Nolan continues to live in Fayetteville on a large ranch and has lots of horses and animals. He was perhaps the most popular coach ever at Arkansas until for what ever reason he became disenchanted and started publically stating he wanted to be fired and bought out. He could have had the basketball facility named after him he was so popular. Now he is a very bitter man. His son was recently fired as a head coach for bringing a handgun to the University after an altercation with another coach. In any event whether he loses or wins he is a very rich man who will never have to worry about money. The trial has several more weeks to run.
