NORMAN — Porter Moser is on the cusp of landing another prized transfer portal target.
The OU basketball coach is reportedly hiring Saint Joseph's associate head coach Justin Scott as an assistant on his staff, according to a report Monday from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein. The expectation, according to Rothstein, is that guard Xzayvier Brown will follow him to Norman. Scott is Brown's stepfather.
Brown led St. Joe's in scoring and averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists this past season. He entered the transfer portal on Monday.
Brown scored in double figures in every game he played and his 32 games in double figure scoring led the A-10. The Philadelphia native scored a season-high 27 points at Fordham on March 1.
Scott joins Moser's staff after former assistant Armon Gates left to be an assistant coach at Minnesota.
Brown would be the Sooners' third portal acquisition joining Miami's Nijel Pack and Notre Dame's Tae Davis.
