OUCH! Jason Cole article on Matt is brutal!

It appears Whiz' & Matt were definitely NOT a match made in Heaven. The players, anonymous, of course, were brutal in their comments, too. But, perhaps, honest. GO CARDS!

The article did give me a better understanding of what might have went down. Seems there may have been a bit of a power struggle between Whiz' & the front office re: Matt. With Whiz' contract situation settled (ie; security) I think he gained the leverage to do it his way. I'd be curious to know if Whiz' or the front office pushed to sign D.A., though. My gut feeling is Whiz' sees Hall QB-ing sooner rather than later. ...And he's willing to accept the growing pains all rookie QB's go thru. GO CARDS!

Pretty obvious piling on. No one played worth a good Great Daned in that New England game. In his career here, Leinert showed toughness at times, certainly in that game in Tennessee last year, also in his first year in the Monday night melt down, when he drove us down to miss the field goal at the end, same thing with the KC game the week before, helped us beat Pittsbugh in 07. The guy described in this piece couldn't have done any of these things.

This could be the end of Leinert or if he reaches down and revives his career it will be the best thing that ever happened to him, the moment where everything began again. I don't know how it will turn it but either way, this column is a hit piece that is unfair and undeserved.

It's pretty easy to pile on now, but I didn't think this article was very eye opening. Matt's fate here was probably sealed during the two QB platoon of '07. It was the best thing for the team and the worst thing for him. His confidence was shot after that move.

Also, one of the reasons the players didn't have confidence in him could have been that they realized the coach didn't trust him, either. I'm sure Whis' opinion has an effect on the players.

Really, though, none of this matters. Matt's gone and it's time to move on.
