Star forward Alex Ovechkin was in serious talks about a contract extension with Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis and general manager George McPhee on Thursday. Negotiations are ongoing, a person who works for the Capitals and is familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no deal had been reached.
