I've never liked the guy, but you do have to give him credit. He made the comment that "if it were Brett Farve, they'd call him a warrior" - the thing is that Brett has never been the showboat that TO has been. You can't blame the media for calling the kettle black. He did come to play and play hard.

He also ran every route I expected him to. On the left side of the offense he ran slants, ins and drags. On the right side he ran outs and curls so that he always kept the pressure off the right ankle/leg.

Of course his best play of the night came on an illegal pick that was missed by the officials.

I'm still not a fan but I will tip my hat to him for playing hard. He kept the Eagles in the game.

Yup. He played gutty ball.

He also has an obnoxious mouth. For this and other reasons, I'm glad the Eagles lost.

Big mouth but he showed he will lay it on the line when he needs to. He gets my utmost respect for that. He could have ended his playing days with a big hit.

Owens did want to win. I don't think they looked to him enough. They threw alittle too much to STINKSTON. Only when he went out did they look more to T.O.

Why does it have to be in his part of the country? :)

Did anyone read the story by Peter King in MMQB on Jack Youngblood? Now there is a warrior. He broke his leg exactly like TO and went back on the field during the SAME game. The rehab is 6 weeks for that injury. That's how long it took. Youngblood played every week with a broken leg.
I'm sure it's painfull, but as a player you should suck it up and get your A@* on the field. Yes he played well, but I'm not giving him respect for playing hurt. Big deal. It's the Superbowl.

Talking about warriors, how about the Ronnie Lott story. Apparently Lott broke one of his fingers in a game (tip of the index finger), and he asked the doctor to cut off that part of his finger, sew him up and then let him go back out and finish the game!!!

I remember watching a game where Larry Wilson played with two broken arms in a cast and he made an intereception. Sometimes in the early 60's. Wilson was always a big time warrior.

While in Vietnam I was inserting Special Forces teams into North Vietnam jungle by helicopter. These were usually composed of 5-6 men one of which was an American and the rest tribesman trained by Americans. On one trip the American team leader had a broken leg in a cast. I asked him why on earth he would do this and he said it was his last mission and he was not going to miss it. About 1/3 of these guys I worked with never made it back. Talk about warriors.

Patty Smith is "The Warrior". She even has a song saying that she is.

It wasnt during a game it was during the season. Doctors recommended surgery to repair Lott’s mangled left pinky finger, saying that he might miss a few games. He had them amputate the finger tip instead so he wouldn’t miss a down.

Noted Randy Cross, Lott’s former 49ers’ teammate, "He doesn’t care about his own body, so why should he care about someone else’s?!"
