Philip Seymour Hoffman is a shrewd and lucky bank manager who embezzles tons of money to satisfy his gambling addiction.

This movie has a powerful message. You'll especially feel his pain (if you hit the tables hard) as you watch him fall hypnotized to the disease.

Hoffman was incredible (the guy has talent). Minnie Driver plays his wife. And, John Hurt is tremendous, as always.

Glad I caught it. It tended to curb my itchiness for a 4 hour drive to Vegas.

Good movie. Very depressing, but good.

Psychologist: How would you rate the thrill you got from gambling, on a scale of one to 100?
Dan Mahowny: Um... hundred.
Psychologist: And what about the biggest thrill you've ever had outside of gambling?
Dan Mahowny: Twenty.
