Well that a pretty cool update. I've never seen the rooks signings broken down like that. Let's hope it's right, well for Pace's sake anyway.

Yeah, thanks for that link.

If Pace is in camp by Tuesday, you'd think that Johnson can't be far behind. Pace's contract would basically set what Johnson can get. To try and get lot more in terms of bells and whistles, compared to Pace's deal, would be a suicidal move by Johnson's agent.

As much as i would like to believe this it sure does look shaky!

Like aj stated I have never seen signee status broken down like this before. Didnt the Cards and Agents agree not to chat with the media? Where would this info come frome them?

Also what in the world would be the hold up that makes him wait until Tuesday????

I agree, this looks VERY shaky. Were do they get the info from? The only information available is whether or not the team and the agent are still negotiating and what the disagreements are... Per Graves Statements the Cards are close with both players, so why is Pace listed as signed by tuesday, while Johnson's status is uncertain?

Also there are a couple of players on the other teams where it's been reported that they're nowhere close to an agreement(Sullivan, Boller, Suggs & Leftwich), but still this list has them close to signing? Just as an example, here's a link to an article describing Sullivan's status: http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1059286343321790.xml

I would love to believe what they say, but it doesn't make since. If they could get it done by Tuesday why not Sunday? Sounds like window dressing to me.

Pace and Johnson

If they're not in camp by Tuesday I wouldn't think that could play in Saturday's scrimmage. One, they will have missed 5-7 practices and more importantly it will take them time to acclimate themselves to the "air" at Flagstaff. All things considered, I'll be very happy if they sign this week.

The writer probably has sources within the agencies, and doesn't have a source or couldn't get any information from Johnson's agency.

I think it's very encouraging. There's no reason for the writer to make stuff up--he could as easily have a story with "Cardinals are F'ing Things Up Again" headlines instead of "hey, They're Close."

If all the talk is correct the NFL is reviewing one or both R1 offers. Might be a sign that Rod is taking us into the land of whistles and bells with a deal structure that even the NFL has not seen before. That would be surprising considering some of the deals out there.

In any event, I am encouraged to hear reports of Pace in camp by mid week and would find it inexcusable for Johnson not to be on his heels and with enough time to take some snaps in the scrimmage. There is so much competition at WR & Rod has proven to be willing to reach out to these guys both by physically getting on a plane to meet in person with their agents and to deviate from the historical stance on deal structure for the first rounders.

IMO the only thing that keeps him from signing this week is his/agents foolishness of the NFL pushing back on deal structure (which I cant imagine for a mid first rounder).

I hope this is right. We need Pace in camp to work with the new Defensive schemes. He will look great in an attacking 4-3 with his speed and size he can cause some problems for aa offense and its timing,

JOhnson will follow within a couple of days once Pace signs.

I don't think this anymore, but I hope it's still the case.

I'll support my earlier statement any day. They got it right about Pace and Johnson, Steelers' Polamalu and Rams' Kennedy - I'll admit to that. BUT it's still VERY VERY shaky!!!

They had everyone but Suggs close to signing. Two days later Suggs, and the above mentioned, are signed while negotiations with Sullivan, McDougal, Joseph and Boller are going nowhere...
