Last summer, the Green Bay Packers jumped at the chance to add veteran edge rusher Ahmad Brooks, who was released by the 49ers in August after a scheme change in San Francisco. A similar type of opportunity could be available later this summer. The Packers should be monitoring the roster status of Indianapolis Colts edge rusher John Simon during training camp. The Colts are transitioning away from the 3-4, leaving Simon – who has always played outside linebacker in the three-man front – transitioning positions and fighting for snaps at defensive end in the 4-3. Many now consider Simon, 27, squarely on the roster bubble. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com listed Simon among his possible roster cuts. Kevin
