a good veteran team can keep a few knuckleheads under wraps -- but there has to be a point where the critical mass of a locker room tips --

we will see where Dallas' is

How do trades affect a team's salary cap? Does his salary come off of the Titans' cap this year and onto the Cowboys?

That sounds right. Recall, Jones is still on his rookie deal. DAL is reported to give him a new deal.

Complicated!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3364138

The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans have agreed in principle on a trade for suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

Dallas will send its fourth-round pick in Saturday's draft to the Titans for Jones.

There are also conditions attached to the trade related to Jones being reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and how much he plays for the Cowboys. If he plays a significant amount of time in 2008, the Titans will get an additional pick from the Cowboys in 2009.

If he doesn't get reinstated by the NFL, the Titans will send an undisclosed 2009 draft pick back to the Cowboys.

Also, Pacman has reached a financial settlement with the Titans regarding his contract situation. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Jones must pay $500,000 to a charity chosen by the Titans sometime in the next two years. He will receive a new contract from the Cowboys.

ESPN NFL reporters Ed Werder and Chris Mortensen contributed to this report.

If he keeps his nose clean, this will be a steal for Dallas. If not, all hell will break lose (Owens and Pacman?). Let's hope for the 'not' scenario :D

The guy has been in trouble for the last 5 years,at least. For the most part people don't change that drastically. He may be good for a year, or so, but he'll be back in trouble. Once he gets the money coming back in, his "friends" will be back and that where the trouble starts. Maybe i'm wrong and he'll "get it" but i doubt it. Not in a town like Dallas.

Cowboys are only on the hook for his base salaries and any yet to be earned bonuses or escalators. Titans are still on the hook for any bonuses already paid to him. Those remaining prorated bonuses will count towards Titans cap all this year.

So is the latest news that he paid hush money going to impact him being reinstated? Sort of implies there were information in that make it rain case that wasn't public and he didn't want to become public.

I read on another board (FWIW) that PacMan stated on Michael Irvin's radio show that he had told the commish about the hush money.

When did he tell him though? I don't know that it matters I guess but it does sort of imply that he had something else to hide?

God, Pac Man on Irvin's radio show imagine the off air stuff they have to talk about!

"See in my day you would have never been suspended."

Reminds me of all the great Dallas jokes.

Why do the Cowboys paint the lines on the field?
Because if they used powder all the players would snort it.

Why do the Cowboys play on Astroturf?
Because all the players were trying to smoke the grass.

What do you call a Cowboys Huddle?
Crime Ring

Why does the Cowboy stadium roof have a hole in the middle?
So the warden can keep an eye on the players.

Unless Dallas gets assurances from the Commish that Adam is going to be re-instated this season, it shouldn't change the Dallas draft strategy.

Everything I read says that Dallas would like to trade out of their lower 1st round pick, anyway. They'd probably be happy with one of the 2nd or 3rd tier cornerbacks.

Wouldn't be surprised if we traded up to them or the Chargers to get Cason.

I hope so, Cason looks to be the safest CB pick in the draft and I'd love to have him. The more I read his numbers and look at his play, I'd be willing to use the #16 pick on Cason if Rashard is gone.

Have all charges been dropped against Pac Man or could he end up serving prison time with Michael Vick?
